One thing I noticed about the Ctek is that if the battery is poor that thing will get as hot as a firecracker. In other words if it is just maintaining a good battery all is fine but if it has to work and charge for a long period of time it will get extremely hot.

Yup The maintainers I have all state that they are not for charging dead batteries.
Poor choice of words. When I said week I ment damaged as It charges all my batteries to 100 percent. If it does not the battery should be replaced.

darn it posted before completing ... forgot to mention that the Schumacher SP3 and SPF3 models both have high customer reviews ... but one might not scroll the words!
