the county road that is about 3 miles from my place is under construction and is just a bone jarring mess. stones and mud flying and they spray it daily with calcium chloride . at the snails pace that they move around here it will be months before they get a blacktop on it. several of us up my way only have a 3 mile cruise before heading back.....that gets old pretty quick. last week i took the car out for fuel, never again, i just won't subject the poor shark to that abuse again. anybody coming this way, avoid lakehurst road like the plague. :swear: doug.

That sucks!!!! It would almost make me want to find somewhere to store the car on the other side of the construction just so I could enjoy the car during the summer. If it isn't winter ruining cruising, it's construction!

That is the same as the calcium chloride brine that they spray on the roads in the winter. Ask any heavy truck mechanic about the damage it is doing to trucks that are on the highway in this bath day in and day out. It's messing up cars too. Trailer it down here and we can find a spot for it for the summer. Last year the highway was torn up between Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls. We did a side road detour around that muddy mess too. Where you are, there is no other way out. I'd rather have the dust than the calcium chloride. You would think that the contractors would be a little more environmentally friendly and use plain old water.

I agree with you Keith, last winter I had a direct hit of spray on my van, the next day when I went to clean it off it had etched into the paint, so first we have to pay more for our cars in Canada, then they blast the roads with that crap so we need to replace them sooner. Pennsylvania uses coal dust and their cars don't rust nearly as bad!
