***Corvette Stolen!!!***

Hi Everyone,

I just got word that Arun's Corvette was stolen. Everyone PLEASE keep an eye out for parts for sale or anything suspicious!!!! We want to get this Corvette back!!!

He may have to go south a few miles and have a pow wow. A guy I know had his COPO Camaro stolen, truck trailer and all and eventually got it back after some money changed hands. At least that's the story I heard.

:agree::agree::agree::agree::agree:
This would be the first place I would look!! it is an issue around here. I live relatively close and nice cars go missing around here all the time and most end up there according to the authorities.

Living in beautiful downtown Caledonia, about a 1/2 mile from the rez, having a son-in-law that is native, and having had my 84 Buick stole and found on the rez in flames......I feel I should keep my mouth shut on this subject. :swear:

Not to add any discouragement but I'd keep my eye out for this car on YouTube clips of the Unlimited 500 races in Russia.

You guys could be right it could have been lifted by someone and just gone south a bit. Are these people so technically gifted to be able to start a car like a C5 anyway? I would have thought these keyless, chipped FOB cars like a C6 and maybe the C5's too would be more of a challenge to get going.............

That is sad news about your car Brian.

It could also be loading onto a SeaCan and out to Russia where there is little need for vehicle registration and cash is king, slip some guy at Murmansk a couple of Euro's and you're on your way.

Could Arun advise the folks at the port to keep an eye out for this car? I've read reports in recent years of higher end cars from North America ending up in China as of late, another country with less than stellar laws and people flush with cash.

LOL Brian -- I'll say it then -- That's where I'd look too.. I know of a couple stolen near here that ended up there.

Our son did tours in Bosnia and Kosovo when they were having their problems a few years ago. There was an SUV running around one of the towns with Ontario plates on it. The numbers were run and it turns out the vehicle had been stolen here. They didn't even change the plates. I never did hear what was, if anything, done about it. Criminals work on a world wide basis these days. The Russian Youtube idea isn't as far out as you might think.

Arun has posted a $5k reward for return of the car, incredibly two other posters on the "other" forum have each put in $1k to make it a total reward of $7k.

That is certainly testimony to the sort of person Arun is. I am equally sure that most forum members would turn down the $.

On a related note, if it turns out badly how does the idea of a raffle for Arun sound? Could be something car related thats raffled off, wheels, exhaust etc with all funds going to Arun. He has given a lot to the Corvette community this might be one way to say "thanks".

No idea what is required for this but I'm sure there are people who have done it before.
Anyway it's just an idea to mull over.

Great idea Wayne. I like it.
I was wondering what to do for him. All I could think of was to collect money for him.

I'm in for sure if you can come up with setting it up. -- and are we legally allowed to have a raffle? Not sure.

Haven't been fortunate enough to have met Arun yet in person, but when I read about this on an American forum I was stunned. Had tears in my eyes. With any average Joe having their car stolen it is only the police that are on the look out. But with a Corvette and somebody as widely known as Arun, at least he has hundreds of people all over North America keeping their eyes peeled. Hoping for the best outcome with help from the community.

Yeah Cramar -- he's a great guy and very well know all over -- and very reputable. If you haven't met him yet you probably will if you visit Dasilva Motorsports in Breslau.

Let's hope someone sees the car, trailer and truck somewhere.
If not maybe we can all help him through a rough spot.

bit more..

"The car was stolen from 1151 Benjamin Rd, in Waterloo Ontario Canada.

The car is a 2002 C5 Z06-all original with the only exterior difference it has a Caravaggio blower hood and a parachute mounted out back.

Wheels were powder coated black Weld RTS-15" mounted on M&H 325/50/15's and 17" front skinnies.

The interior is completely stock-stock seats, radio, ac-everything. The only difference is the car had a full roll cage with a boost and AFR guage mounted on the pillar.

Under the hood it had a 403 with TFS 245's, FAST012, TPIS 90mm TB, stock LS3 rails, 1200cc FIC inj, fuel lab regulator, ECS YSi kit-driver side inlet, 10 rib conversion with my custom idlers and a custom ECS tensioner to accommodate the 8.5" IW crank pulley. Blower was a non-poished YSi with a 2.8" 10 rib pulley, a velocity stack was bolted to the inlet. American Racing 2" headers and 3" midpipe. Rad was Dewitts cutodown rad with my own fan shroud and 2 spal fans. it had the factory AC, PS and alternator which had an A&A Direct drive mounted to it. Alky control/ECS meth kit. Tranny was a RPM level 7 with brake, SFI bellhousing, torque tube had the driveshaft shop driveshaft. Rear was a built RPM with 3.73 gears. LG spindles, Lingefelter mini tub kit. "

Just wandering if there has been any new updates on this ? Its hard to believe that the truck, trailer and car have all disappeared. Also wandering about the insurance, this vette is obviously worth alot more than a regular 2002 corvette. Would you have to have special insurance to cover the cost of the car ?

Hi Paul -- Nice that you're concerned -- I'm sure Arun will appreciate that when he reads it.

No more news to add -- as far as I can tell nothing has shown up and everything has disappeared.

My guess is that professionals did the deed and expedited the disappearance.

Not sure of the insurance details but Arun is quite astute and I'm sure would have sufficient insurance to cover the loss.

His time and labour involved would not be covered tho and would be a loss.

A shame and we all feel for Arun, but he'll bounce back with another car you can be sure.

Cheers Paul,

Colin.

That's brutal!! What the hell is wrong with people?! You can't have anything nicer anymore. My heart goes out to Arun! I've had a vehicle stolen before and it sucks. My vehicle was nothing compared to Arun's beast. Again, very sorry to hear and I hope they find the bastard (s) that did this.

Hey Justin -- Apparently not a trace of anything -- Looks like they got away with everything.
Pity, it was such a great running car. Arun will have to start again from scratch.
