Things were different then, you could just wander around, no one questioned why you were there. I ended up sitting right beside my hero Mark Donohue on the pit wall with the race car in arms length.

Like you Black,I would've been just awestruck sitting that close to him. I had a similar experience with Greg Moore in Vancouver 99. Only difference I swallowed hard and approached him. I'm glad I did as he was dead a month and a half later.

Mike, Greg Moore was a talented guy who paid a dear price for his love of racing. Incredible that you got to talk with him. Over the years I have found that some were more approachable than others, some who people have pre conceived notions of that were not correct, Foyt was a prime example of that.

The era of Player's and Labatt's produced some real talented Canadian drivers. From a sponsorship point of view Canadians will always be at a disadvantage but that has not stopped many from showcasing their talents. Ron Fellows, a Mississauga, Ontario guy who is dear to all of us managed to make it on the world stage.

Still like your Moore driving gloves. A treasure.

Sorry for the mixup Mike and sorry for you losing something of value to you.
No worries Murray. I guess now I should've bought the race used Simpson helmet for $6500.00. My visa at the time only had a $3000.00 limit.

Still have not received mine Graham but they told me one of the Capri's was not available. That was disappointing. Oh well.

Something will be on the way to you tomorrow. Keep an eye on the mail.

Hi Slot Car Kids...
Please post your slot car stuff on here.. There appears to be a few of us that enjoy the ‘slots’.

It has been a busy time in the slot car acquisitions the past few months..
Mainly C5 Corvettes, but also a couple of LOLA T70s & some rally cars too.
This also spawned a requirement to order proper racing tires for the fleet.
these tires are made by a fellow in Manitoba... he is known around the world for urethane replacement slot tires.
