I believe with the Airacobra, the pilot sits mostly above the driveshaft, with just a small hump between the feet.
Learn something every day. I'd never heard of the Airacobra, it was quite a successful fighter in WWII. The pilot ,however looks like he is suffering from a warm arse! (LOL)

Wikipedia always knows. Here is a partial clip :

The Bell P-39 Airacobra was a fighter produced by Bell Aircraft produced for the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II......................It had an unusual layout, with the engine installed in the center fuselage, behind the pilot, and driving a tractor propeller in the nose with a long shaft. ............ Although its mid-engine placement was innovative, the P-39 design was handicapped by the absence of an efficient turbo-supercharger, preventing it from performing high-altitude work.

Wondering about the 26.83 kills? Is that like Canadians having 1.66 children?

Yes.. exactly like that 👀. Bomber kills were often more than one plane hitting it so everyone that had gun camera coverage or confirmed hits from other pilots got a % of the kill.

So if I understand that correctly, a Canadian having 1.66 children means she was hit by more than one pilot?....:Beatdeadhorse:
