Changing Differential Fluid

Is it necessary to warm up the diff fluid prior to changing or just drain and refill ?

Yes...10 k will do...better drain.

It will drain out faster warm,I changed mine cold and it all drained out.

Same as an oil change. Some contaminants usually settle to the bottom over time and won't drain out without stirring things up. Getting the engine, transmission or diff warm will whip up any crap sitting on the bottom and you'll have a better chance of draining out things you don't want to leave behind.

Changed my diff fluid on Sunday morning. I think it took longer to jack up and lower the car than it actually did to change the fluid. Used the Royal Purple 75 W 90.

Just drain. then refill. Make sure it’s level.

Make sure you have the anti-slip additive in it. When i did mine i went it was a separate bottle that i had to pour in, but I've seen some manufacturers with it premixed. I stuck with the OEM and used AC Delco brand from the dealer.

I just use REDLINE with limited slip.
