Pretty sure it wouldn't have been brain surgery for an engineer to design a watertight automatic closure door on the under side of those vents. Opens when the ignition is activated, closes when it is shut down....

Lol- would almost certainly fail….GM has not been able to fix the simple cable breakage problem with the HTC.
