Car Wash--have you tried?

Laughing my a$$ off here. I must have missed that video before. There's a list of reasons I'm glad I kept my C7 that seems to get longer every time I log in, and that vid just made the list longer again. Not that I drive in the rain if I can avoid it but does it leak like that when it's getting rained on too? GM engineers should be ashamed....

^^^ That said, this is the last step in the production proces

Here's my old video. Oh the Horror!

I love your video--very helpful. I did not know that so much water enters the engine compartment. I wonder if there is a car wash accessory you can buy to temporarily block the water from coming into the engine bay. Your car looks awesome too!

TY everybody for your replies. I learned a lot. Unfortunately, I do not live in a house, so I can't wash the car myself. But I like to keep my cars clean. I also did not know that there were many places on the C8 where water gets trapped on the car.

Not sure why you are laughing. AFAIK, the engine compartment on all mid engine cars are open to the elements.

Yes there is, but I never worry about it. I just dry it off inside. In fact I wash the engine about once a year.

If the $800,000 Revuelto with a completely open engine bay doesn't melt in the rain I'm ok with my C8 getting some water in the engine bay.

Get Xpel tracwrap to cover the vents then take it off after the wash. That is what I am planning to do as I will be driving the vette in the winter. So touchless wash is essential for me but I try to keep it to minimal, maybe once a monthly. I doubt I will ever see the effect of the "harsh" touchless wash soap as the car will be mostly covered by PPF plus I will only keep it for 4 or 5 years max.

Pretty sure it wouldn't have been brain surgery for an engineer to design a watertight automatic closure door on the under side of those vents. Opens when the ignition is activated, closes when it is shut down....

True, but no other mid engine car has that feature that I know of.

And that means what? The first power window in a car was introduced by Packard in the 40's. No other car period had that feature before that either. A little foresight can go a long way. If I were younger, wanted to work and still had some ambition, I'd build a prototype, appear on Dragon's Den and get filthy rich. And I still wouldn't own a C8....

That's your choice. If I was filthy rich I'd have a lambo or a Ferrari. I am rich enough to buy a Corvette and I'd never buy one if it wasn't for the C8. C7's are over priced and not worth the money.

Come on guys....Lets not turn this into a C7 vs C8 thing. BTW who moderates moderators here? 😝
