I realize that the auto industry is using more and more composites but they still use a lot of steel .Being in a steel related business prices are going up at a fairly fast rate .

Normally cars go up 2-5 % a year .Pickups seem to go up 50%

Wow... I'm REALLY glad I bought the car when I did. I would bet, given the dollar, that Canadian pricing is up $8,000+ which puts it back in line with the 2013 GS.

This could be the first time in the history of my cars that I might not completely lose my shirt if I sold the car two years after I bought it :D My car was $70,265 MSRP... if the 2015's are $78,000+ for the same car I might do OK on resale!!

Yeah I think we all saw this coming. Especially for the Z51 package. Glad I bought when I did and saved myself a few thousand. It will be interesting to see Canadian prices go up even further as our dollar has weakened.

GM just announced sharp price increases in the US. Expect GM Canada will follow with even more drastic increases. Here the new US 1LT pricing:
Base $53,995

Z51 $57,995

Vert $58,995

Vert Z51 $62,995

and how do those prices compare to the pre-increase prices?
thanks,
C.

That is not as bad as I expected.....wait...that is the US pricing, isn't it? I wonder how much our dollar will impact what we pay?

Old and New Prices:

Base old 51000 new 53995
Z51 Base old 53800 new 57995
Vert base old 56000 new 58995
Vert Z51 old 58800 new 62995

So Z51 package is up 4195

Note these price are US dollars Canadian prices should be higher because
of the exchange right now.

The other thing to note is the pricing increase is effective immediately for unsold orders. It isn't for 2015 models only!

If there is an order sold and in the system with a specific customer name attached, the old pricing will be honored. Otherwise, it will be increased.

I haven't seen anything on Canadian pricing yet but if the US is up $3,000 on a base Z51, my bet is the Canadian base Z51 will be up $5 to $6,000 or more given the significant drop in currency.

Yeah right on -- I don't even want to think about the difference in price now of the '15 Z06 (to the '13 model) .......

What I have is looking more and more attractive.

Thanks.

Even with the price increase (which we don't know the quantum in Canada yet) the C7 would still be no more than the C6 for a comparable car. Also, from what GM has said, the '15 Z06 will be similar to the '13 Z06 in price.

I think they launched the C7 with a purposefully low price for marketing reasons but always intended to adjust it. To put it in perspective, my 2LT Z51 with all of the extra stuff was $70,265 including freight. The comparably equipped '13 GS would have been $80K 'ish. Even with the price increase, the C7 will still be in line with the C6 pricing. I think the '14s up to now have just simply been smoking bargains ;)

At the risk of taking this off topic somewhat, I thought the $ numbers looked strange. I pulled out the window sticker from my 2003 Z06. Equipment listed for the "Standard Equipment" shows the Z06 came as a package that was essentially loaded with the preferred equipment package 1SA.

The MSRP window sticker price was $78,385.00. I recall that the dealer did discount somewhat but not a whole lot. You folks buying the C7 even with the increase it would seem like you are getting one heck of a deal. Now if I could just get $49K for mine I just might break into the Grandkids piggy bank and move up!!

Colin, Riley please delete if this is moving the discussion off topic. I am a little gun-shy.

:agree:
:canada:$100 CND gets $86 US (March 4th Bank of Canada cash rate)
Here's my deal:
$53995 US msrp
$49225 US dealer invoice
My actual cost: $53,000 CND x .86 = $45,600 US
$3645 below US dealer invoice = awesome

The dollar in 2002/2003 was poor. I'm guessing that inflated your price to a high value.

I called this was going to happen from day one. Thankfully I should be locked in because I ordered in October. Well at least I'll have a high resale value now! Thanks Chevrolet :)

they could increase the cost $5000 and still people would buy it…they know that now. The reviews on this car are whats selling it… people are eating them up. Nothing out there in its price range can compete with it… cheers! IMO

Yeah that was b4 the projected price increases of late.
We won't know for sure until sometime in April on that front.(I've heard)
(lol, "similar" could be subject to enterpretation).:D

I'm hoping they don't go up much but wouldn't be a bit surprised if they did. Like I said, I'm happy with what I have.

Given the scarcity of the C7 in Canada and the increase in price, anyone who owns one today just made out well on resale value :coolgleam: Maybe I will lose "less" money than normal when I sell the C7 someday :D
