Little red 2020 C8

No idea how that could happen, but I guess a tow truck could take it if she didn't have the alarm enabled correctly

There is a 2 car garage in the house...Clean the damn crap out of the garage and put the car in there...DUHHH
What I said to the wife almost verbatim LOL
The stuff in the garage isn't likely worth anywhere near what the C8 is worth. If the junk is in the driveway it's likely not going anywhere! ;)

Well she does model and posts her car online continuously on Instagram and its not hard to know where she lived. It was someone targeting a C8 for sure...

Sad part is she's now likely to need to put her name down on a list...unless Insurance pays up enough for a premium C8.

But again....clean out the garage and get a lift like I did to protect the car(s) from kids bikes etc.

I'm going to miss that car:(

Disturbing that this is less than 5km away from my home. Time to move to the country.
Moving out into the country isn't necessarily the answer.
We have more car thefts per capita than most larger cities.
Her C8 is probably in a container awaiting shipment overseas!
Todays thieves have the latest technology and I don't expect the auto manufacturers are interested in
improving theft deterrent options as they get to sell another car.

Neither car alarms, mychev apps or onstar is going to prevent theft by a pro. They watch you park your car, steal your keyfob wavelengths remotely with their laptop or other devices, and voila`... unlock, start, bypass OnStar control and tracing and are gone. Seeya.... errrr... actually won't seeya.... We had a member who lost his that way. Parked his car in his driveway, looked out the weindow 9 minutes later and it was gone. Security camera footage showed the guy walk in off the street... unlock the car and drive it away in a matter of seconds. They disconnected the onstar tracking immediately. Found the car a few days later... engine, seats, doors, tranny, and multiple other parts gone...

Hmmmm ... do I feel a new C8 find will be posted near your location shortly :angelic:

The 9 minute C7-Z06 loss last year was surprising.
This over night C8 on a driveway loss is also as easy as leaving it unlocked by mistake
or the button being accidentally pressed in the house (in the purse) by even a kid playing with it.
No loss insurance is cheap in the initial years ... so it's very hard to feel sorry about it when left over night outside.
Interesting that she's all about the publicity when owning & when losing it too ... something I would definitely not do.

Renewing my insurance this coming month and I still get another year of no loss coverage
which will basically recover my purchase amount now that new C7s are no longer available.
This is why I consider new car insurance a part of the "investment" and not just a money grab expense.

It’s easy to put the car in your garage at home. But what do you do when traveling and need to park outside at a hotel? Once you leave the big cities the hotels do not have indoor or secured parking. I have a Faraday case for the key but does anyone do anything else? The Club? This may be a difficult question to answer right now since no one have been traveling.

This might help if you have OnStar.
  • Theft Alarm Notification: If a member’s vehicle alarm sounds after the doors are locked (must be locked electronically), members can receive a notification by text, email and/or phone call.
BTW, The fob sleeps after a few minutes, but if you keep the key in the case while walking around it would definitely help.
