C8 Bunny hop

no launch control, I will wait until its 25 C before I do launch control to see if I can beat my 2021 RED C8 time of 2.8 sec 0-60
Did you do that with the default/factory launch parameters?
aka Sport or Track Mode, stand on the brake, stand on the accelerator, release brake? Or did you set up a custom launch control first?
Just curious.
I tried it tonight, first time ever. Poor public location. Sparse but regular traffic, freeway cameras, but no better options nearby. 72F, and clear and dry.
Default launch settings, done in Sport Mode.
Messed up the first one, didn't stomp hard enough on both pedals, didn't have the accel matted. Did a poor 5.7.
Second attempt, a little better. The acceleration was so unexpectedly intense, I backed off gas early, and did a 3.5.
I also had to avoid a truck that was far ahead of me, until I hit warp speed.
Launch mode really kicks ass. I like it.

I used factory default lunch control in track mode as my 2021 is a non-z51 car so it has less traction control adjustability

I've had wheel hop launching my '23, non-Z51, all-season tires, on less than ideal road surface, not very warm. I didn't go back to check the rubber marks on the pavement - maybe that would tell me something. I'll have to try again on a warmer day and better road surface. There does not appear to be any adjustability on launch on this model, is there? Has anyone tried or had success trying to soften the launch - e.g. slower release of brakes, manually reducing the engine speed (e.g. 3/4 throttle / 3000 rpm, then pin it after releasing brakes)? I'm not a fan of burnout mode, not planning on buying stickier tires until these are worn out, so getting the dragstrip hookup GM set it up for 2.8's to 60 mph is not that easy.

Update, I have tried launch control and double paddle hold and drop and just plain floor it and one out of 2 times it hops. Our run flats do not stretch so that causes wheel hop. My drag radials wheel hopped because I cannot do a burnout. Like I said , I will try a 25 degree day, with launch control because I saw a 2021 do a 11.17 in that kind of weather with just plain floor it and off he went. So when I get a chance, I will try again. thanks to all.

If you were launching in track mode perhaps you could try sport mode and see if that makes a difference. Saw a few videos where it did make a difference especially in less than ideal conditions, temperature, road surface etc . Just a thought.

Thanks Denis. Good time, btw.
I had zero wheel hop/bounce on take off on my Z51. Z51 = Sport Mode works for me?
The acceleration last night was unlike anything I've ever experienced before, and I've been in a few very fast cars over the years.
I believe further research will be required.....
I have an oil change/DCT canister service scheduled in 2 weeks, so I'll probably wait until after that's done to resume experimentation.

If you want to do a burn out in a C8, defeating the Competitive Driving or PTM modes, that try to defeat the rear wheel spin, there are videos that explain it, more or less. Some refer to it as a "secret trick" to dump the clutch and burn rubber. OK, fine.
Basically, pull both paddles, rev the engine, release both paddles, launch with rear wheel spin.
If this has been "revealed" or discussed before, please ignore.
Blue Bunny Hop included......

I did mine in Sport mode, but it's a Z51, and had no wheel hop. Non Z51 Sport Mode might make a difference, but might also kill good 0-60mph times, too. The Performance Timer in the DIC is a nice feature for this sort of tomfoolery......
As an addendum, I would suggest adjusting the drivers seat such that it gives full/firm head support against the seat/headrest, before unleashing the beast. Maybe set one of the 2 seat memories to "launch mode" settings.
