2008 LS3 42,000 Km, have owned the car 5 years with no problems but now when i start it, it will run for a few seconds and the engine just quits, everything goes black on the dash and will not restart. After a few seconds everything seems to reset and i get the check engine light, low engine power, check traction control. low fuel warnngs on the dash, after it shuts down. When the ignition (green light) comes on the start button i try to restart it and everything just goes black on the dash again. If i press on accessory then shut it off sometimes it will start other times it wont. When the engine is running the alternator is putting out 14.4 volts , battery is always on a tender and right up to charge and the cables are tight on the terminals. The car is not throwing any codes according to the code reader, nada ... anyone out there had similar problems? .Last week i had to change the accelerator pedal because i had a code on the sensor on the pedal, reset the code and it ran fine after that, the next time i went to use the car this problem started up again. Before i changed the accelerator pedal it was doing the same thing but at least it was throwing the code for the pedal throttle sensor .. any help would be appreciated...

These cars do weird “crap” with bad batteries. I would try a battery before spending to much time on it. All the C6’s I owned, I had some things happen that as a past tech, never would of dreamed it was battery related, but it was.

Vt65 how old is the battery? Like Vegas says batteries and bad grounds seem to be at the core of so many problems with these cars, they seem to be very voltage sensitive. If it is a few years old I would start there. Even hooked up to the tender you could still have a bad cell, or a few weak ones.

Wish you the best of luck in sorting this out, frustrating for certain.

Yes your mechanic best resource for this issue...

Yes the mechanic i have trying to figure this out says the same thing so will do a load test before changing out the battery. Is Delco the best replacement or is there a better alternative?

It feels like you loose all the power, it can be bad connection on 12v or ground. If this was my car, I would check every ground connctions, starter connections, check the big red wire on the fuse block under the hood. The fact that the check engine light comes ''on'' but dont give code may be the result of lost power or ground and the pcm loose the codes in its memory.

new Delco battery is in and no change! ... back to the drawing board ... :(

Is the shut down predictable vt? ....as in... does it always act the same? how many seconds until it shuts down... Does it gurgle and fart first or does it just die... What does it do if you try to give it fuel before it dies.... does it show oil pressure before it dies...

very predictable, runs for about a minute then just stops no matter what the RPM's are, no gurgles it just dies no warning. Always acts the same, runs then just goes dead. Yes it does show oil pressure, all the gauges are functioning when it is running.
