31415926 is the answer. Unfortunately it doesn't specify how many of the "first digits"

Most of the supposedly recyclable plastic materials you put in your recycle bin never gets recycled. Only 2 of the 7 kinds of plastic are recycled, although you can put them all in your bin because if you had to pick out all the types you can't recycle, it would never get done and would end up as garbage anyway. But picking through recyclables does give tens of thousands of people a job. Of what's left, those ketchup and mustard bottles, milk jugs, shampoo bottles, salad trays, etc., only about 9% in Canada (considerably less in many municipalities), ever gets recycled due to contamination issues. Yes Gladys, everything you toss in the bin has to be rinsed clean. Otherwise it is discarded and goes for garbage anyway. And by the way, plastic bags are not supposed to be put in your recycle bin either. You are supposed to take them personally to the recycle depots ( I think some grocery stores also accept them), as they tangle and wrap up and jam the recycle machinery. How many of us do that....
So at the end of the day, recycle is one of the many environmentally friendly words we love to think we're doing our part with, but developed countries tend to do a very poor job of recycling. Thank goodness though that they have a number of poorer developing countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. to ship garbage and plastics to so we have them to blame for dumping it in the ocean anyway. Last year Canada shipped 202 million kg's of plastic to other countries. Most went to the US first and then beyond, where it will all end up on the Vancouver shoreline eventually....

PS. Don't tell the orange felon about the 202 million or he'll put that on the tariff list too.

It is amazing the lengths we go to to supposedly be good stewards of the only planet that we have to live on. Instead we always just take the cheapest way out. Its OK I guess if you believe we can all move to Mars someday.

Yup. Plastic isn't the problem. People are. Just look at the side of the road at any highway off ramp. Or my ditch for that matter.

BTW, Denovia has invented a way to demolecularize some plastics to recreate new usable versions

Publicly traded ? Here we pay a deposit on plastic liquid containers and get half of it back if you return them for "recycling " which actually turns out to be bailed and land filled, lol. When you go to the local landfill they want glass in one spot only, busted up concrete in another , wood in another etc and then it all gets buried anyway . Years from now archaeologists will be seeing this and going WTF ? Something like only 7% of plastic actually gets recycled and thats only where they have recycling to begin with. Sad .
