I heard he built this balloon using his wife as a model. She loved it until he filled it with air. Then she divorced him....
I did something similar, "way back when", when my exhaust hanger fell off while out.

I think a lot of us are guilty of doing this at some point with our early cars. I certainly am.

At least it is relatively safe, especially if compared to using stepladders and milk crates to support the car.
It's not a soft close so we can shut him up faster
