What a great day. It's the first anniversary of my puchase.
To celebrate, my son and I met up with Manny and Carmen at the predetermined 6:00 am start, driving back to London to pickup James (Maddox) for the 2nd annual 'Cruise to Bayfield'. Traffic was moving along very nicely on the 401 with an F150 and Rav 4 hoofing it along briskly. So as to not impede traffic flow, Manny set our pace keeping up with them comfortably.
We picked up James and our mini convoy was off to Bayfield, the next leg in our adventure. It was quickly noted that there seemed to be an abundance of Ontario's finest patrolling the secondary highways (for our protection of course). It was reassuring to know that they were strategically positioned (sometimes almost hidden with some sort of electronic equipment in hand). I figured it was to ensure that our entourage passed safely without any criminal forces interferring with our arrival.
At one point just prior to arrival, our windshields became dampened with rain pellets but certainly not our spirits. Fortunately, it was not enough to have to pull over and lift the top. The dark clouds passed quickly they were not to be seen or heard from again.
After a marathon session of detailing/bug splatter removal, we ventured off to have our fill at the local fireman's breakfast. The line initially seemed intimidating due to its length but due to speedy and efficient cafeteria-style serving manner, we were fed quickly and able to return back to the Fest.
With over 215 cars in attendance, there was alot of Corvette eye candy in the beautiful park setting with every era being well represented. During my tour of the attending Vettes, I realized I had forgotten my camera, so alas no pics were taken by me (sorry).
Several of us in left in the early afternoon (including Manny) to enjoy other summer endeavors only to find several new officers lurking about ensuring our safe passage home again. Infact one such patrolman even ventured prominently passed us waving an index finger to remind us of their ever-watchful presence. We vacated the left lane momentarily allowing him to pass freely without us delaying his forward pursuit.
With the great cruise, good food and beautiful car scenery, it truly was a really fun day to be a Vette owner. Can't wait till next year to do it all again ...
