Barn Find

Put the wheels on and a seat cushion to sit on and went around the block a few times. Think its been 10 yrs since going thru the gears. The Mrs redid my whitewall job with some special kitchen stuff and they turned out awesome. She wants to claybar it for me before my bud does some blowins. This was yesterday and its snowing today. Good timing.

Gorgeous under dash of old California car to remove radio, speaker and clock for o'haul.
Nice find in trunk with a jack, handle and lug wrench. New mat and divider board a bonus. Off to my painter buddie to remove all wrong black from trunk to correct body color and some body blowins as well. Drove really strong on a short country drive over on a COOL but sunny NO top day.

Got the Barn Find back from my painter after a month or so. Some blow-Ins in several areas and changing my trunk from wrong black to body colour turned out really well. Got lucky and going over and back roads were clean and dry although quite cool with no top but was worth the 20 minute drive.

Had too wash off some body shopdust[ and a few snow splashed under wheel-well areas but now have a good base to start a Claybar job. Starting to come around.ATTACH=full]75920[/ATTACH]

beautiful car
Thanks for the kind remarks.
Moving into the chassis detail now the exterior and engine are done as good as it’s going to be. Looks like the frame and suspension when done in early 90’s were done in Eurethane. The crud and very minor oxidation is really starting to gloss up nicely with some chemical help and elbo grease. Lots of nice real parts evident.

Just installed rebuilt T-10, rebuilt starter and another OE ignition switch. Finished underbody detail a few weeks ago. Got hardtop back with new 1/4 windows and front and rear weatherstrips refreshed and mounted on body 1st time since 1995. Test drive tomorrow W/P.

Well the Barn Find turned out pretty nice. Several informal cruises and the season is almost over as seen here at our local gathering spot. Have a bunch of parts that were changed out for originally if anyone wants a good for there driver car. A little more tweaking over the winter should get this car into Top Flight status.

Haven’t been on in awhile and we are now into another year. Hope all is well with forum members and Best Wishes for 2022. Just before on Xmas on a nice but cool day I did a photo shoot for 2022 Calendars in NOTL . Was Fun.

I did about 15 shots from 10 different spots usually used by our local shutterbugs. Here are 4 . Sure got lots of 👍👍😊😊 along the way.

Well folks it’s been over 2 years since I found this car sitting unloved, unwanted and covered up since 2013. Last weekend it went to Hubbard Ohio NCRS Chapter Meet. My Goal. Small show indoors at Greenwood Chevrolet. 10 cars and some real beauties. Of course I get parked next to a 62 Four Star Bow tie car. Very tough Judging with several 400 level Judges on hand. Being next to the Bowtie kinda hurt me as it’s easy to see how a factory delivered car is supposed to look like. BUT a real accomplishment to come away with Top Flight - that means 94% or better. Ask someone who’s got one to hear some stories. Not for everyone but that was my goal.
The value just went up a bunch so now I have to be more cognizant of what I have.

WOW. My older brother has restored antiques and showed cars competitively and come away with a 92% rating as his highest achievement, after YEARS of pain-staking tweaks, adding every available option for that particular vehicle and otherwise fussing ++++ over it (devoting untold time and money into that car). So I bow my head in wonder at your 94% rating, amongst as you say, all the stiff competition. Nice to see all your efforts pay off and CONGRATS on a GORGEOUS C1!

Well actually the car scored 97%
so over the winter I’m chasing down some parts and fixing a few items I lost points on. It’s a process or perfection addiction.
1door lock didn’t work. The trunk lock with a separate round key needs to be changed for an NOS lock that takes the Octogonal key. 1 Key fits all 5 locks with teeth facing down. Finally got an original 3059S WCFB back and installed from my carb guy after his Covid spell missed my Judging meet deadline. Some stuff can’t/won’t be changed because of Cost vs Point Loss Ratio. Still Fun.
