I got my 2021 from small dealer, Larry Hudson, in Jan 2021 when someone backed put. Paid MSRP and they are dealer known for being straight up, no BS. Prior to accepting a deposit he had to check with GM to make sure I was not on the Export list...he even named a local business here in Lindsay that was on the list to ensure I was not connected to them..I do not know them. This policy by GM is not fake news.
Anyone trading there 2021 in a 2022 this year?

OK, so it wasn't the same in '03. It is now. The price of a C8 is below the exchange rate now. I have no idea why or how GM decides on pricing. All I can tell you is the prices now.

Just wait on 2023 pricing especially that of the Z06...its definitely going up!
I had problems and traded. y 21 for a 22.It just arrived today..
It was me and the dealer requested I write an email to GM with the list to determine if I bought and sold to wholesalers. I had an order in with Larry Hudson and the order was being blacklisted as I had sold my 2020 to a wholesaler as I wanted some different options and a different colour. My 2020 was purchased off the lot as someone had backed out of their order and I was lucky enough to get it. I have my new 2022 now as GM allowed the order after I had a meeting with Hudsons and wrote the email. The email included my reason for selling etc. The dealer warned me that I would be on the blacklist to not purchase another if I sold to the US under 1 year of owning or 12000 kms . My 2020 was not exported as the wholesaler still had it in his possession long after my order was taken by the dealer. So another GM dealer must have reported this. All true story so believe it or not. Thanks

Folks who question the blacklisting are in for a rude shock should they sell and their C8 gets exported.

I spoke with a salesperson who told me he'd received a deposit on a 2022 C8 but the deal was cancelled after GM determined the perspective buyer was on its blacklist. I trust this salesperson. He had no reason to make this up. He was disappointed for that customer and sold the C8 to someone else.
When I bought my 2020 C8 I was told upfront of the "12,000 km AND 1 year rule" by my dealer and wasn't required to sign anything. I only sold my C8 after 14 months and 12,400 km on it, since I didn't want to risk not being able to buy a Z06.
My neighbour who purchased a 2021 C8 was also told of this same GM policy, by his salesperson and he similarly didn't have to sign anything.
Finally, I had a friend who bought a 2020 C8 and his dealership required he sign an agreement outlining the "12,000 km AND 1 year rule". I'd heard of others having to sign similar acknowledgements but I actually saw a copy of my friend's signed document.
As others have said, like it or not GM can set its own rules and has this policy, like other car manufacturers (so it's not simply GM that does this). The rule makes sense since car flippers can make a +++ handsome profit with the demand on the C8, combined with the US/Canada exchange rate...so they buy a C8 in Canada and sell it down in the States. The sale is helped by the fact that GM will honour the warranty on the car, down in the States. But the US dealers are unhappy finding a Canadian car (originally sold cheaper in Canada) in the States and knowing that they've been deprived of a sale and their profit.
Believe it or not. Up to you. You may think this is unfair. That's your choice. I'm assuming that all dealers should be telling their customers of this GM policy but like anything, likely not all of them do. The benefit of being on these Forums, is that everyone has the opportunity to know of this GM policy, whether or not it's believed to exist. So you can choose to modify your actions or not.

It’s OK I was looking to do something similar but I might just do it on a Z06 US or Canada doesn’t matter at my age being blacklisted isn’t a problem lol
