Anyone trading there 2021 in a 2022 this year?

As a moderator I should know better, don't derail a thread, not good manners. Ok I get it and I apologize in advance but I woke up cranky.

Just wonder as a taxpayer if the next time these incompetent fools want a Government Assisted Bailout will I be able to exercise my option of "blackballing" General Motors?

Do you have to sign something with GM or is this just internet bulls#*t because if you do maybe you should be striking a deal down at the Porsche Dealer or some other exotic make.

just internet bulls#*t, and stories of people who trust their dealer's every word.

Not true! We have a member here who was blacklisted. He managed to get out of it, but barely.

I would love to see the paperwork on that one. It would have to be iron clad. Funny thing is GM exported most of our last bail out $ to China, were they blackballed?

Suppose a guy gets a C8 from out west, but it's not what he wanted so he sold his car to someone who exported it to the states. His order for another was given an allocation by the dealer, but GM refuses the to accept the order. "Black listed" No paper work required. Order for any GM car is not accepted. It's their system. Customers name is on the order.

I know I am just a guy who is a member of CCF however, I have first hand experience with GM and know of at least 3 blacklisted examples.

GM doesn't publish or make you sign anything like Porsche does, however they are in the business of blacklisting folks if your vehicle becomes exported. Whether you sell it to an exporter directly or do this yourself they will add you to the list and its VERY HARD to get your name off.

My suggestion is that you discuss this with your dealership. I just traded in my C8 and made a massive profit on it through a GM dealership so if your end goal is taking advantage of the market then the opportunity is there. Why risk selling to an exporter? Secondly, your dealership can work with GM on the mileage part if you are at the year mark but low mileage.

Look at the end of the day you can purchase your C8 and flip it the next day. You just won't get another or a GM product and yes there are other marques but this is what I know of the immediate comparables:

1. Audi R8 - long, very long order wait and Audi Canada makes you sign a Non-Export and you are required to lease or finance for 12 months
2. Porsche GT3/GT4 etc - good luck. Even my buddies with long histories of Porsche ownership aren't getting allocations merely due to world wide demand. Add in the Felicity Ace fire and no bueno.

So you are supposed to make critical financial decisions based on an internet story? Say you never read anything on line and sold your car. How can it be your responsibility to "assume" General Motors has some unwritten, undocumented policies to prevent you from doing this? Where is my written notification for what can and cannot be done with the car post sale to me. It's mine. Wait. Sorry forgot we talking about General Motors. Carry on.

no proof of it, just a story, maybe this member is a dealer or just bored. The story that GM asked for a list of all cars bought and where they where sold to by this blacklisted individual is ridiculous.

First hand experience. Not an internet story.
Believe what you will. I agree it's not a great business model, but there are reasons for it. One reason is we pay a lot less for the C8 then the U.S. does . So GM doesn't want Americans buying cars up here and importing them back to the states

your suggestion is to talk to your dealer, when dealers are the ones spreading lies to prevent people from private selling the cars they own.

If GM does not publish or notify people that are blacklisted, that means there is no evidence it happened.

I also heard a crazier story that once you are blacklisted by GM, it not only you, its your entire family, and people who are not related to you who may have shared, share or will share an address in the future.

Denis! READ what has been said! NOT A STORY! There are non disclosure documents involved here. The party can NOT tell you himself!

has anyone seen the non-disclosure agreement? I bet not.
Anyway Murray, you and I both have our C8s, and we don't plan to sell them in the 1st 12 months/12000km so all this does not matter.

Calling BS. So you sell your car and get blacklisted and GM makes you sign a "non disclosure" agreement to tell no one about it? Good grief.

Yes, the person who signed it! How could anyone else see the document. Then it would not be a very good "Non Disclosure" document! lol
It doesn't matter to me what you or anyone else wants to believe, but others here need to know not to sell their C8 within a year if they want another GM product. Even Americans are subject to that policy if they flip their car to Japan. It circumvents GM's pricing policies and they risk being black listed.
As noted above, other car companies do the exact same thing with their high end vehicles. Some are open about it.
Anyway, Caveat Emptor!

No, the person who had to sign it had a very hard time getting off the black list and it required a lot more before it came to that.
GM has the right to sell or not sell to anyone.
