Anyone trading there 2021 in a 2022 this year?

If you are blacklisted how can you be forced to sign an nda? If you are not blacklisted how can you be forced to sign an nda? Why would you sign an nda either way. Blacklist me and I will sing to the world. Don’t blacklist me it’s business as usual.

A lot happened before it came to that and a deal was finally worked out and part of that deal was not to say what had happened. Not hard to understand why GM would not want people to know that their policy has outs. In fact it seems GM doesn't want people to know it exists for whatever reason

Being a (retired) employee of "another" company, I could make use of one of my benefits by purchasing one of their units. I choose not to, but if I did, the vehicle must remain in my name for 12K kms, or 12 months, whatever comes first.
If I fail to abide by "the rules" and get caught, I will lose ALL my benefits, not just the ability to buy a unit at dealer cost.
 
Holy crap guys. This isn't an internet rumor.

I WAS BLACKLISTED and personally know 3 more examples. But fortunately my case was one where the GM regional rep was able to interfere with persuasion from both a dealership and my persistence. How the hell else was I able to help that guy the other day in a separate thread with the GM Audit and Compliance team when his dealership was trying one on.

You all need to remember that GM subsidizes the Corvette in Canada. The last thing they want are Canadian C8s heading stateside.

Corvettes have a 1 year and 12k restriction by GM.
GM Trucks & SUVs have a 6 month 12k restriction by GM.

But you know...go ahead and don't listen because your just too damn incredulous. A simple ask...go see your dealership and see what they say.

Can you explain just why GM would do this? I can think of absolutely no reason they would so please educate me. I can tell you with certainty they did not do that with my Z06 so why now?

the last 2 corvettes I bought new I signed that form not to sell, standard documentation I thought nowadays

bought a 2019 z06 and traded it in for a grand sport 3 months later
had it sold to a wholesaler for more than msrp and gm warm]ned me as I called the regional rep to inquire and told him why I wanted to sell

just be careful if you want to re-buy
and if not that is on you my friends

camsC8 you have been the most vocal on the Canadian forum, FB groups and even US Forums regarding GM blacklist, with statement of "go talk to your dealer" when people don't believe you. Why would anyone trust what a dealer has to say when continuing the "blacklist narrative" directly benefits the dealer. Also if I remember correctly you yourself work for a dealership.

GM has made no statements regarding the blacklist, nor did GM state in writing or otherwise regarding 1year/12k km, the dealers did.

If GM cared, they would prevent resale/export with signed contracts at the time of purchase, instead of waiting for it to happen then blacklisting the customer without actually tell him that he has been blacklisted.

each market dictates prices, if GM wants to sell cars here they must price vehicles competitively. GM is not doing Canada any favours and we don't owe them anything. Hell, every single other car company wants us to be their costumers.
 
I don't work for a dealership...I'm in Nuclear.

I've been vocal because just like you guys I was completely taken back when I was told GM would not order my C8. Nothing was signed, nothing was told to me about any resale restrictions so trying to help others I have been vocal. But its falling on deaf ears so why do I even try...

signing a form or an agreement is completely different. Most of use who got a C8, haven't been told or been requested to sign/agree to any resale limits.

sorry CamsC8, I must have confused you with another member who works for a dealer.
Anyways, because you are so vocal about warning others, is the reason I question it.

I really I have no horse in this race, and dislike flippers. if my dealer asked me to sign a contract of no resale, I would of agreed with out even thinking.

Because I lived it firsthand Denis. Don't be stubborn. BTW... I work in Nuclear.

Correct, GM doesn't owe us anything but they get their dealers to do the dirty work. Yes, they don't publicize the blacklist but trust me they sure make the dealers aware. Why don't they have the dealers issue non-export agreements? Not sure but I know they don't hold up well in court here in Canada. So sure, go ahead and sell your C8 the next day...GM just won't sell you another one or any other GM product. Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, GM, Ferrari etc. all have their blacklists and many acquaintances have been caught in this scenario.

And guess what...GM doesn't need to make any statements nor does any other manufacturer who blacklists. Its economics and we are small players in that game. Manufacturers protect dealership agreements not my or Denis right to buy cars. Plenty of us around...

A couple of things about this. First of all what it being suggested is the very definition of "Trade Dumping".

Dumping is a term used in the context of international trade. It's when a country or company exports a product at a price that is lower in the foreign importing market than the price in the exporter's domestic market.

Somewhere I have a pic of a build sheet for a down to the last nut and bolt identical Z06 to mine, yes maybe some add ons for Canadian compliant equipment but the American price on the window sticker was $30K below the price on my window sticker. Exchange rate? Don't think so.
