The math wizard figured as follows: tensile strength of 2 inch chain = 200lbs, max load of train car is 197000lbs. If we ignore the zeros on the train we get 197lbs. using 4 wraps of chain at 200 gives 800lbs or a factor of safety of 4... oughtta hold, and we can take the pillar right out!

Dangerous goods placard says 1987 is ethanol or alcohol...better than oil if it lands in the river.
Alcohol is miscible in water and burns with no flame. Not something I would want in the water near where I live.

I wasn't saying it was good for the river, only better than the problems oil would cause. The next train may be oil.

There are 2 bridges on the BNSF mainline from Seattle to Vancouver that I go under with my boat and each time I hope I get through before they fall down.

Real scary when you are under them with a train going over them.
