Taken from the "What could go wrong" category. No helmet, no gloves, we'll jump over the train and land on that broken wooden ramp. Don't worry, if you don't make the distance, the train will get ya, If you don't make the height the wooden shards will get ya. Either way it'll be quick.
 
I'm pretty sure that this is a "doctored" image. For one thing, I am pretty sure that cameras of that era could not have frozen a fast moving (frame crossing) image so sharply without panning, which would then have blurred the train.
So what you're saying is this could be an early example of a "credibility gap", much like now where there is no truth in photography when photoshop is applied.
