If Iran play this right, they could turn the play book on the US as a reasonable regime by letting other nations through the straight except for US.

That would certainly help world markets but it wouldn't hurt Trump other than his claim to being the almighty. The US only imports 7% of their oil needs through the Strait.
Donald would still take credit for saving the World, and all his loyal followers would believe him.
And we could sell them the shortfall. Oh, wait, need another pipeline for that ....or , we could send them some LNG . Woops , no economic case for LNG..... Perhaps we could send them some wood pellets . Except they are usually softwood so they would probably apply tariffs .
