A picture of you and your vette

They definitely do that. I especially like the gas mileage as we like to drive a lot. 34-35 mpg on the highway looks a lot better that the 14.1 mpg that the L78 could barely get.

and don't you think the Vette(s) are faster??

you/my old L78 Pontiac 455 was no slouch, and my C5 will run away from that

LOL, None of us have changed that much......maybe a little older and wiser.:D

I love pooches as much as I love 'vettes -- What's his name?

We have 3 here: Sid - a 9y/o American Cocker, Phoenix - a 6 y/o Golden, and Jacob (Jake) - a 2 y/o Bull/Shep mix.

That pic of John and his black beauty was taken at our latest meet on Centennial and Mud in Stoney Creek.

Seems you and I are only 2 years diff. on birthdays. Let me guess the month and say July or August.
Were you in Clinton at the time? The 'vette looks new -- mid '70's??

......Leo's business must have been one of the most successful ever -- just on your custom alone.:p

Kudos for helping keep the 'vette alive during some lean years.

Talking about "lean years": From what I've read the '75 was the lowest horsepower at 150. Was it that much of a slug compared to other years or did it have enough torque to sustain itself?

I suspect that it was definitely in need of a few mods.

The base L48 (which I have in mine) produced 165HP while the L82 had 205.This was down from '74 when the L48 had 195HP and the L82 had 250. Blame the catalytic converter and the restrictive exhaust for most of the loss as compression ratios were the same as were cams, valves etc. My '75 has benefited from some performance parts. This was also the last year for the THM400 tranny in a base L48. In '76 they went to the THM350 unless you ordered an L82.

Corvettes

I had a 75 Coupe L48 4 speed, and.. the white L82 .... The convertible "felt" faster... The L48 was just a cruiser... After having the 427-425 66 coupe in 74... everything was a slug lol....my stock '00 Roadster is faster, then the 66 427..... BUT the 66 had factory sidepipes, and was more of a thrill....
In 1974 the speed limit was 60 and most traffic was 70 (mph)..... the 66 vette's normal crusing speed was 80-100... It would pull 115mph in 3rd gear

Something a lot of people forget is the switch to net HP ratings in 72 made things look worse. The old 425HP 454 LS6 OF '71 really netted about 325HP. So three things killed the power...the lowering of compression ratios in '71 to run on unleded fuel (the lead was an anti-knock agent), the switch to net ratings in '72 made it look worse and then the introduction of catalytics in '75 plugged up the exhaust as there were no more true duals. It took until the '80s with computer spark controls and fuel injection to get the power back and now in this century they're surpassing the old big blocks in power. My 2.4 liter KIA puts out 200HP on 11.3:1 compression on 87 octane!

Silver Bullitt ...

Hey everyone;

I have owned 2 'Vettes before a Black on Red 1985 coupe w/ Z51 Pkg.
Then a 1994 Polo Green coupe w/ tan interior. Well the recession hit
and the '94 had to go (sadly) But I always said, "one day I'll get another one"
And that day came last month. I am lucky to get a 2005 Machine Silver C6 Coupe. I dubbed it the "Silver Bullitt" cause it's soooo fast!:D

Now I'm enjoying Corvette ownership again, and I always wave to other "Vette
owners I meet on the streets!

Cheers,
Don.
