2022 C8 launching

Hi boys,
I can't seem to get my timer to start. I do have it in track and I double tap traction control button and I have the timer display for 0 to 100 but when I launch it doesn't start timing. Any thoughts?

Sounded in the vid like she dropped revs a touch at the 5 foot mark?
Actually if you launch in track mode sometimes it over Revs the 1/2 shift, I’ve got more consistent sub 3 in sport and my best ever of 2.7 in manual but getting that shift right is pure luck

Try scrolling down to the next screen then back up to the timing screen. I had the same problem

Left or right or up and down?

Ok, here are the steps I do, start to finish. Just launched and confirmed:
1.PTM dry setting
2. Go to the 0-100 timing screen
3. Scroll down to the lap timer configuration screen
4. Scroll back up to 0-100
5. Hard brake, full gas, 3,500 rpm
6. Smile and enjoy the ride
I can get low 3s.

I tried launch control three times at the drag strip and every time when I released the brake I got very scary wheel hop.I had to back off. I was afraid of damaging my car. The only thing I can think of is that the track was to sticky from all the rubber on it. On the street there is no problem. Weird. Z51 convertible with all the goodies. Any other conclusions out there?

These cars break axles with wheel hop so good thing to back off plus quarter mile time would be slow with a bad 60 foot, as I go quite often so from experience the track conditions are often changing. Everyone assumes that the drag strip will have better traction than the street which isn’t always the case, if you go during the day when the pro classes are running those guy lay down nice fresh rubber at the stagging lights with their long burnouts plus the track is prepped with spray traction compound, in the evening when it’s only street cars they don’t prep the track and most street cars either don’t do much of a burnout or if they do it’s only at the water box the rubber that was laid down during the day at the launch pad gets broken up which looses traction. Best to pay your $40 during the day then the $20 evening stuff if you want your best times. I hope all this makes sense to you as there is a lot to know about drag racing

Just do a quick spin of the tires to remove rocks and dirt, you don’t want or need to do a burnout

Drive around the water box, avoid all water

Thanks for the info. Yes I was afraid of breaking the axel or something. It wasn't a nice feeling. I did avoid the burnout pit and it was late in the afternoon. Test and tune Fridays. My best time with all the problems was 12.02. I know I could have gotten a lot better if the traction wasn't a problem. Plus it's been 40 years since I have gone to the drag races. So my green light reaction was embarrassing. LOL.

Your reaction time has no effect on your quarter mile time FYI

I remember when the fastest exotic production cars did high 12's. Memory fades as we age, but I think the 70's Hemi's did 13's. Of course I don't remember what tires they used for testing back then.

When I was around 20 years old I had a Dodge Demon 340 with big Micky Thompson tires on the back with ladder bars to help with traction and headers. It was pulling consistent 13's. To bad this is the only picture I have of it with my then girlfriend in it who later became my wife and then after many years ex wife. LOL. Wish I still had the car. Not her. :-)
