Promoted 2020 Corvette Canadian Production Updates

Reminds me of those dealerships that put nitrogen in tires, adds their own wheels locks, and security etching. All it's doing is lining their pockets.

Yup, I hate that crap. Then they bring you into their “finance” office where they try to up sell you on undercoat and scotch guard and extended warranty... lol

IMO, and for the record, there is no gain for me to promote anything sold in the financing office, extended warranties are now worth it for one reason: Computers. Cars today are so electronic and computerized, and that stuff is only covered by your 3-year, 60,000km New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This even includes all the computers that control the engine. Yes, those are not powertrain warranty.

That 8" touch screen in the dash of your truck? That's $1,500 to replace. Now they're putting 10, 12, and even 15" touch screens! In 3 years of working here, I've seen 2 fail.

There's also the backup sensors, forward collision avoidance systems (becoming standard equipment), memory/power seats, heated seats, push-button start and keyless entry, the list goes on. Suddenly, a $2,500-$3,500, 7-year warranty doesn't sound so bad (that's $500/year).

Our provider also offers a money-back offer where if you don't make a single claim during your coverage period, you'll get the majority of the cost of your warranty back.

As for life/disability... If you have people who rely on your for income and you finance a $50,000 vehicle, then suddenly are in a condition where you can no longer pay for it, well, that's on you buddy.

Here is my build from the configuration......I did top up and down

So you recommend it, whats the typical cost?

Cheers,

Thanks JoeyBats! Did you guys see this ?

Speaking to Motor Trend at the recent launch of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, GM North America president Barry Engle said GM plans to build 40,000 examples of the 2020 Corvette next year, all of which have already been sold. This includes both the standard Corvette and the new Corvette Convertible.

On my C7 for the extra warranty, I asked about the plan options. The first 3 years of the 7 year/84,000km warranty option were my initial 3 yr 60,000km warranty included with the car. So I was actually paying for and getting only 4 years extra warranty on a number of non-power-train things, as I also have a total of 5 years on power train that came with the car. This is a money grab for dealer finance dept. as well. My first quote was $3,400 for the ultimate package but when I advised that I had a better price quoted than that, he immediately dropped the price to $2,500.00... Whoever the extra warranty is provided by, check the reviews carefully. there have been lots of problems, including tricks to not have to pay you back if you haven't had any claims. The GM extended warranty plan is reputed to be one of the better ones but some GM dealers use other providers such as FCPP (extremely poor reviews) (my dealer did not offer the GM plan weirdly enough). Just a final tip... Read the fine print very carefully as there are lots of exceptions that are not covered in the extended plan. Just sayin'.

Did not intend to derail the thread but the OP brought the subject up.

Nothing wrong with this! As I said, I have no direct benefit from promoting this stuff. At the end of the day, it's up to the customer to educate themselves and determine whether or not they want it/how much the negotiate the price.

So like $500yr would be a good ballpark and with all the electronics it could be a good coverage once you get 4 yrs+ out....yes fine print as well sometimes better safe than sorry especially if everything runs through an electronic brain!!!!!

Cheers,

Kevin

I totally agree. I never buy extended warranties for anything, cars included.
