2013 Viper/ZR1 dyno numbers

Well put Gary! I never thought of it that way.

Please don't forget an Edmonton stop (or at least a planned itinerary for your way home). Maybe I could head-out on the road and meet you somewhere in my 'Vette if you're not going through E-town.

I want to see this machine, hear it--and possibly have a ride if I should be so lucky.

Too bad the flow ain't there--seems tragic to stop anything short with what you're already doing to your baby! This build is awesome!

Good afternoon xlr8r,

Just waiting for the call that the trucks are back. The wind is really getting worse now.

I actually started to get info on the trip. It will be a real drive, 5 days of 10 hours a day driving! I hope that I am up to this. I'm hoping a car buddy might be able to come with me if he doesn't go on a holiday at this time.

Regardless of the route Edmonton is a place I have to go through so it would be nice to meet, drive for a bit while I am in Edmonton. I know Riley would like me to stop when I am in his area. I always need two weeks to be able to spend a few hours with Manny et al along with driving. And by luck there is a fellow in Cambridge I'd like to see as he is getting older and stopped publishing a tank magazine that I really enjoyed so being able to meet him would be something I'd like to avail myself of while I'm in that neck of the woods.

The nice thing about having the car there and I still have time is if money ever does show up I can get more done, but the timeline for powertrain stuff is getting close to an end.....I need to find some $ soon!

Cheers,

Garry

Just a thought but maybe we'll be able to gather all the CCF members from E-town for a photo-op at the time??????

Go for a drive and terrorize V-8less vehicles.........?

Cheers,

Garry

Hahahaha. Heck, you can terrorize whatever you want! V-6's, V-8's, V-10's, children, old people, planes, you name it!:D

Yep, Riley is hoping for a ride, or at least just to see the beast and hear it. If coming through on a Thursday, that's when we meet with the other Vette guys. If it doesn't work out, maybe my little vette can make it to Edmonton for a meet? We'll just have to see how it plays out.

I am sort of nervous to see how the spring comes this year. I always am happy when the snow goes. Some farmers, mostly lovestock folks or people with dugouts like to see as much snow as possible but as a grain farmer I know that rain the in the gorwing season is better than lots of snow and especially a delayed spring. The snow leaving this area at the end of March would be great for me. Manny said that it leaves his area in march normally so that would coordinate well. It will be a long trip even if I drove steady without making any stops so the longer I have to do it, say before I need to get my equipment ready for seeding, the better off I will be. I hate to make the trip and have it a get off the plane and into the car and start driving home situation - that would really be a downer.

And maybe if Norm comes with me it would go better but he might be vacationing with his family right at that time. My only other car buddy is building a house so doesn't have much in the way of spare time.........

I remember loading in Vancouver going to see the car and seeing the plane's speed on decent at 200, 190, 180, 170 and thinking to myself "this car I'm going to see can go faster than this plane is travelling at right now........"

Crazy!

Cheers,

Garry

Spring Snow Storms

We can get some spring snow storms around here. Lake effect snow can come in off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. We picked up our car in Bradford last April 25. A minor snow storm came across just north us and oh do the department of highways guys love to use up the last of their sand and salt. Had the storm been a few miles farther south, our car would have been waiting for another week or so before coming home. I like to see a couple of good rains to get the salt washed off the highways before taking the old cars out. I guess, if there was snow here, you could go home via Detroit and Chicago. Truckers coming from the west will run down into North Dakota, come south of Lake Superior and cross back into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. It's actually shorter than the route north of Lake Superior so I am told.

Good morning Keith,

I was looked at some route planners yesterday and I noticed the same thing, that the recommendation was to bypass most of Ontario and all of Manitoba on the way home and cut through the northern US states and then go back into Canada in SE Saskatchewan.

I also realize that I may have good weather, book my flight and then get clobbered by a spring storm too so I can't assume that everything is going to be fine just because the forecast looks good.

For me it will be a play it by ear, be prepared to stop if I have to and to hibernate for a day or two on the way home.......

God now that would be the worst, hitting snow on the trip back and then slush and salt!

Cheers,

If need be, you can always store your car at our place should snow hit. I can look after the car very well and deliver it when the weather clears. The idea sounds perfect to me. ;)

Garry, Keep us posted on your schedule, pretty sure Somebody and I will try to meet up with you guy's when you hit Edmonton, God willing and the creeks don't rise.

Good morning Keith, Don,

Thanks Keith, that is so considerate of you to be willing to put yourself out for me should the need arise! I will keep it in mind 'wink'. This may be why the road recommended is to head south before entering Sasaktchewan.

Don that would be so great! I'd like to try to meet as many members as I could on the trip but of course the ones from Alberta (and a fellow model builder as well) would be really nice as well.

I was a bit worried about the trip being 2400 miles and all but I'm starting to think that meeting so many of the CCF members would be a special part of the experience.......

Loading trucks only today after I return from taking my son to school (70 minutes return trip......) for the next railcar that arrives next week...............but any chance to get the grain off the ground and into a truck should be taken advantage of.

Cheers,

Garry

if you end up near the "friendly city" Moose Jaw give me a call, i'd be happy to buy you a cooffe on your way home. ps do not come up south of swift current, the highway is pathetic, north portal is the best highway wise

Good afternoon bigneez,

We'll see how the trip works out. Manny expects to have the car running end of next week, I'm so excited!

I am hoping to actually go through Canada the whole way, I need to stop in Thunder Bay to see my childhood home but if Moose Jaw also fits in it would be great to meet another Vette owner.

Cheers,

Garry
