The response would have been just a tad bit different from this parent (of a 15yr old).
Instead of "
We'll get one ...", from me it would be "
You can get one when
you have the money".
Kids are so in tune with the verbiage where they need to know that they have to do the earning
and not be lead down the path of being given or having everything.
(I know ... that's a play on words ... but it's fine tuned parenting to me).
On the flip side, depending on how old the kid is, there is nothing like being one without many of
the worries of when they are older. The gazing eyes of a kid at the Corvette, makes for the likelihood
of a future Corvette Owner ... went that way for both my wife and I
(and likely for many of us looking back at this moment).
