Hi, so my wait is almost over. Placed an order in April 2014, my car was just build on April 4th and now waiting to be deliverd to me? But now my dealer is saying it's going all the way to alberta instead of being drop of at my house in Ottawa, ON. Well we have agree on having that car delivered to me a long year ago, but I don't have it in writing , have been to excited to think about it. So my car will travel to Alberta and my problem with that is my dealer who wants me to pay $2700+gst to have it shipped to Ottawa well it's not what I expected at the end of that deal. When I placed my order I was told my car will be at my driveway free of charge and I will do my inspection with delivery driver or they will drop it at any chevy dealer in ottawa. Don't get me wrong but it's extra $3000 and extra time to get it back from alberta to ottawa wich is 3500km away, don't want to wait any longer. What will you do in my situation, I was promised to get that car last year in September that's the only reason I have bougt it from dealer 3500 away, of course it diden't happen and now flying to Alberta and driving it all the way back here I don't think so. Paying $3000 for delivery I did not agree on that, don't know what to do,any advise, thanks.

Should have bought at Gateway Chev in Brampton, On. We offer no charge shipping across Canada for cash purchases only. Some conditions apply so PM me if someone here is interested.

I would suggest make a road trip out of it. Fly out and drive back.

Good luck!

Ojamali, I am a cash buyer, and my dealer was stating all over the web 1 dealer in Canada, delivery anywhere in Canada and now this. I can't belive after changing my delivery from September 2014, December 2014, February 2015 to end of March 2015, to finally have it build in April 2015, that now I have to deal with this b......t. They of course offer me a full return of my deposit if I refuse to pay for the delivery, I can't belive that after all this time my frustration is not over yet. Iam not sure how it's going to end.

Unfortunately, courtesy delivery is a privilege and not a right with respect to the buyer. The dealer does not have to do it. You might consider whether you have anything in writing with respect to the delivery, although if they were going to offer courtesy delivery, it would have been on your order long ago and remained unchanged after the order started moving along. I would suspect that they never intended, or there was a miscommunication with respect to delivery. Was this Sherwood?

AllFlash , I live in Ottawa ON, and if I have to pay delivery I would never make a deal with a dealer located 3500km away from me. From the first day I call them I was assure to get my car by September 2014 and they will deliver it to me at no charge. That's way I have decided to go with them instead of any dealership in Ontario. I know what they promised, going back to my order all I have is a confirmation of my deposit and car order with the options. Getting back to delivery, my salesperson and sales manager both assure me it will be deliver to me, and know they told can't find it on my order. I am an grown man, not a child, I am paying a big $ for that car I never expect that this guys will tread me like a child. Cheers.

No... I'm sorry but I never doubted you whatsoever and I apologize if it came out that way. I believe what you are saying entirely and this is not the first instance where a dealer has promised a sale to an out of province purchase, only to reneg knowing they could get more money and the sale in Province. What I am saying is that, if they were sincere as they stated about the free out of Province delivery, they would have put the courtesy delivery location on the order a long time ago (before your status reached 3000) as this would have been a no charge delivery on both ends; obviously they knew the eventual result by not doing that. Isn't it convenient now how quickly they say they will refund your deposit? They have another lined up I would bet.

I think everybody knows wich dealer it is, 1 corvette dealer in Canada, give me a break, worst buying expiriance ever. Sales manager to busy with comming corvette show, to return my calls!!! WOW man!!! My wife thinks I am not normal, dream coms true finally, REALLY, how this is happening? My first and if that's the way chevy dealers tread they customers it is a definitely my last corvette.

A promise is a promise and you relied on it to order from them, even if it's not in writing. Your dealer needs to find a way to drop ship it to Ontario at no cost. Maybe you know a lawyer who could write them a letter and let them know that such representations don't have to be in writing to be enforceable?

The road trip option doesn't sound very enticing - assuming this is the Edmonton area (just a guess), you're looking at a long ride back to Ottawa. Most guys riding from Calgary to southern Ontario go through the states, and at that it's a tough three day ride Calgary to Sarnia or Windsor. Edmonton-Ottawa is even further, and I'd still be going through the states on that ride. Doesn't sound like a great way to break in a new 'vette.

Sorry to hear man. I have never liked Sherwood Park Chevy and refused to order from them when I got my C7. What are the specifics on the car? I'll try any message them to see if they'll try and sell it to me. Not that Id try to buy it, just to see if they are trying to snake you.

Wow, that is completely unacceptable. Easy for me to say this, but you have to be psychologically prepared to walk away if after all recourse they still refuse to honour your agreement. Sounds like you are not willing to compromise (understandably so), it may be very painful but you may wish to try another dealer who will respect you and your hard earned dollars. Though I hope they become reasonable and it works out

My wife offer to cover the cost of shipping, but I refused that, I feel like after all that waiting I can't let them to take advantage of me and will refuse to pay it. If that's what will happen I will have about $7000 in parts for sale, all brand new. Will see, will call my attorney and explain my situation, hopefully he can help. Man I want that car, but? I am a small business owner, a hardwood floor buissness, I have worked hard for my many. If I have tread my customers the way they have treated me, I will be out of buissness right now, can't believe it.

Luczaj35 what price are you paying for your car, did you get locked in on a 2014 price as you ordered in April 2014, if so since that price there have been 4 or 5 price increases, so if you got the 2014 price pay the shipping costs and bring your car home and never deal with S.P. again........

+1.

Tough lesson. Verbal agreements with some don't mean squadoosh.
Know who you're dealing with and don't deal with anyone you don't know, and get it in writing.........EVERY TIME.

Get you're deposit back and call Owais at Gateway. Him you can trust.

Cut your losses now. Personally I'd be glad to see the back of anyone like that dealer in Alberta and wouldn't trust anything more that they said.

Cheers
Colin

Tough situation. Verbal agreements are not worth the breath it takes to make them, unfortunately.
If this is a strictly emotional decision, I would tell them where they can go. If rational takes over, you have protection from 2 price increases and you can have the car.

I would try to negotiate, 50/50 on the shipping cost.

Good luck.

Yeah, my dad made point with me when I was in my 20's. I had a verbal agreement with him to borrow 500k at 10% to start my business. After having the money and finalizing everything, he said he'd hanged his mind, he wanted 15% interest.

Man did this ever piss me off, but he said, never trust anyone, always get it in writing. Bastard did it to make a point and teach a lesson, but was an expensive one.

I don't feel so bad about my Dad now....all he asked me to do was hold the spark plug of the lawn mower to the engine while he pulled to see if there was a spark. Now that's a true redneck lesson. But we both learned though...as did both of my kids at one time or another.
