No issues to worry about for that specific year, however they did upgrade the rear diffs and a few little things on the 08's and up.

Issues in general for C6Z's, there is an issue with how the valves bores were machined in the heads and although not all Z06's will fail, some do by dropping a valve into the engine. If I were you, I would budget a set of heads into the cost of getting a C6Z.

The price sounds decent. I've been noticing them hovering around the $45 to $55 for low mileage examples in the states for 07-09 model years.

Manny has a video of one of the heads with loose valve guides and not a lot of miles on the engine. Some feel that a few got through production with very over sized valve guide bores. With the valves banging around on the seats causing side loads eventually stresses the valve to the point where the head pops off. They were a two piece valve welded together, one time of material to take the wear on the stem and another to take the heat in the head area. Dropped valves generally windows the block and that is not good. Back in the day, dropped valves in the old L78 396 engines was a problem but was mostly due to inadequate valve spring pressure for the high rpms that these engines were capable of. An engine with good valve guides probably isn't going to have problems unless you are racing it. In that case, you should be building a race engine.
For the difference in price, I too would be taking a look at a C7. At 460 hp, they are not going to be very far behind the 427 in the quarter mile.

Sounds like a good excuse to ship it directly to Manny after you buy it. To have the VALVES checked.....

Once your in there, WELL......

Sounds good but the price sounds fairly high to me. Some great deals on kijiji this time of year. Wonder if there will be some great deals on C6's as the C7's become more readily available.

Waren, if it's the one in Campbell River I'd steer clear of it. Way too much money for that car. I've heard it running and has a lot of piston slap when you first start it up. It almost sounds like someone drove the crap out of it and then dumped it. As Colin says for not much more money you can get into a C7 and have it covered with warranty

There you go Waren: Rob has seen and heard it.
She's been rode hard and put away wet.........and that piston slap -- nothing turns me off more than that.

Your C4 is a beauty and worth $16k -- whether there are many buyers out there is another thing.

I wish you luck. I'll be sad to see it go.
If you have to trade, wouldn't you just love a C7 Waren?

Colin.

This is just me, but I think I would wait till spring and you'll find a great reduction in pricing for these cars. Everyone's trying to dump them before they lose their shirts. I really think come spring, things will be different.

Can't wait until January 13th to hear if all the hype is true for the next Z06/Z07/ZR1/L88 whatever they are going to call it, OR if we are all being duped! Personally I want to see a fire breathing Corvette come to market to hold onto the crown!

Congrats on the C6 coupe, Warren ..... I'm sure you'll love it.

Love those wheels on your C4 -- I'll keep my eyes open for anyone in the market for your C4 -- she's a beauty too.

I'll also send a copy of this thread to our Cars for Sale forum. When you get a chance post some pictures of your C4 for other to see.
