I may go out to BC this summer. That drive would be awesome! If I go by myself it will be the 2000 fenderstripemobile. If a friend wants to go, it will be the 4 door vette. And not the cool CTS-V version. The slightly less cool 1991 Honda Accord version. I may be able to stuff one bike in my car, but not two+passenger.

I've heard good things about the Valentine and Escort detectors...never really used one before as all I've really had is my truck and it barely does mock chicken so I've never had to worry about it.

I had a radar detector and I got caught with it years ago... have not owned one since.[/QUOTE]

Me too! thing never made a peep! I look up and there is a RCMP car coming through the ditch at me, I pulled over he comes up gives me the ticket. I threw the detector in my closet and its probably still there.:swear:

I got pulled over doing the speed limit...

officer says... "Sir, can you give me your radar detector please."
me - "I don't have a radar detector officer, you must be mistaken"
officer - "Sir, I detected your radar detector with the radar detector detector."
me (shitting pants) "here you go!"

He let me off but he took the radar detector and made me drive over it. he picked me out of a line of cars which amazed me... it was not in the window so they must have a way of figuring it out. The last thing I wanted was for him to impound the car or do a search.

I'd consider using one again but I think they give you a false sense of security.. They might save you on a busy road when they are bouncing signals off lots of cars but they wont save you when your hauling it down a back road.... jammer might work though.

Great! So now I need a radar detector detector detector. I would use a jammer, but I am not sure if they are legal so I would probably also need a radar jammer detector jammer.

I have a few Vette trips planned this year.

Our annual Myrtle Beach golfing trip.

Two Cannon Ball Run style, fun filled extended weekend events with the CFCE Posse, Mid Ohio ALMS Races and Carlisle.

Northern Michigan fall golf trip with my Son.

Lots of Thursday night Hot Dog Cruises, and as many weekend cruises as I can fit in.

All done without a radar detector. Had mine confiscated at least 15 years ago on the 401 just outside of London On.

Bring on the summer I'm ready to go.:canada:

Definitely not legal..

they only work from certain distances too... they give you that extra second or two to slam on the breaks.

WHen you use a radar detector and a jammer together you have to jam the breaks the secon the detector goes off.

Since i imported the car from the US i was debating whether or not to install a jammer/radar detector.... then claim on front of the judge that i didn't know about it if I got ticketed... doubt it would work... but you never know.

1-Considering going to the WSCC Western States Corvette Convention being held in Las Vegas...I know LATNC3 really wants to attend too...:D
2-Calgary to Regina for Corvette Convention.
3-Calgary to Saskatoon for Thursday Meeting..maybe Cruise Night too.
4-Calgary Race City drag Night with Corvettes Unlimited Corvette Club in Calgary
5-Calgary Shag GM..Ron Fellows & Car Show

Jammers definitely illegal, detectors depends on jurisdiction. Ignorance is not bliss, beancounter, they'd nail you to the wall with that defense. Detectors work if they are constantly running radar or sniping busy traffic, but if you are pretty much solo and he's sniping you're a meatsicle. A couple ride-alongs with the boys in blue gave me an understanding of their tactics...wait until 100 feet from target and pull the trigger, he has you dead to rights, and when you then slam on your brakes he knows you have a detector and it guarantees a ticket, no amount of begging or cleavage is getting you out of it.
