Who all went with a warranty??

👋
First year, virtually brand new model = problems
Cost is irrelevant. It's insurance.
Murray = 1988 Beretta = first year, brand new model = doors, steering wheel, drivers seat falling off = pile of service reports a foot high

I would only make that decision just before the end of 3 years or 60 000 km of ownership, that way I can better judge how long I'm going to keep it and what kind of mileage I will put on it. There is no cost savings buying the warranty up front, plus you can negotiate a deal with any GM dealership.

That's a good tactic, but remember the price will likely go up.

I too went with the extended warranty which If I don't use receive back $2k...no brainer.

With all the problems the C8 has had from transmission and valve springs I felt better knowing I'd have additional coverage. Plus the HTC is a first year design and not proven for durability.

Just curious who all went with warranty ?

pros cons?

It's a gamble buying the extended warranty later and before the regular warranty expires. If the C8 does well, perhaps the extended warranty cost will go down or remain the same. If the C8 requires lots of warranty work, the cost will go up once that's known. But then again, buying any extended warranty is "a gamble" since you're banking on problems that may or may not occur. It really comes down to whether having that extra warranty brings you piece of mind and if you don't mind shelling out the dough for that piece of mind. So it's a personal choice and there's no right or wrong answer.

I bought it because of the all-new design and ++ electronics that can sometimes be very costly to diagnose and fix.

I've had mixed success with my other vehicles since I tend to buy an extended warranty as a matter of routine. In general, they usually end up paying for themselves but I've had vehicles where I don't recoup it. And if you never use it, you're entitled to a rebate like CamsC8 said but make sure you follow the conditions that go with that rebate, in order to get it. Some vehicles come with a good reputation of being reliable. I bought an Acura MDX many years ago when going through the "family child stage" and didn't buy an extended warranty, given Acura's reputation. It turned out to be the right choice however I've talked to others who own a "bullet-proof" brand and they've been badly burned since even those brands have their lemons. So you never know.

Depending upon your relationship with your dealer, they may give you a real good reduction on the extended warranty since there's a lot of profit built into the regular price. If not, you can shop it around when picking up the car or at any point before the regular warranty expires.

I did buy one as well for the same reasons- new completely redesigned vehicle with mag ride Z51, lift etc. and as it turns out, the cost for the warranty was less than the difference in price if I ordered the same car now. So I don’t really feel bad if I never use it. Btw it’s 7 years or 80K, and I tend to keep my cars for a long time- still have my 07 4Runner and 07 Mazdaspeed6

That is not correct info.
Yes there is a savings if we are talking GMPP. It is called zero deductible, which is only available at time of purchase and shortly thereafter.

Maybe with GM , but I did it with my Ford Raptor at 59900 km and had a deductible choice for 0, 50, 100 depending on the plan i chose

Each dealer offers a GM extended warranty and may also offer other brands. Some will not lock in the price unless you buy the warranty at time of car purchase. Some warranties refund you $2,000 less your deductible at warranty end if you have not made any claims. As mentioned @CamsC8 (and I) have the same warranty, with First Canadian through Spencer.

7 years / 80k coverage for 2500$. With 50% refundable if not used, is total peace of mind for an all new car. I doubt any one major job will be less, can’t imagine what a DTC rebuild will cost all in...

You won't have your car 6 months +1 day or 12000km which ever comes first...

Extended warranty is a waste of your money. Designed to make the dealers money. That's it. I never by extended warranty on anything.
In YOUR opinion! I would have spent 3 to 4 thousand dollars on the Beretta, but I paid $800 for the extended warranty. Yes, the stock warranty back then was 1 year, but it is still insurance. I pay home owners insurance even though I will likely never need it. Like others have said, it's peace of mind. And that is something many, including me, will gladly pay for. Obviously you have money to spend if needed. I don't. If disaster happens, I want to feel safe that it will get remedied without me having to sell the car (or something else) afterwards.
