wheel torque wrench--what brand & where to buy

Hi Garry...
I believe that a torque wrench has to be able to work in both directions in case you are dealing with a left-hand thread.
I believe some Chrysler products in the 50s-60s had left hand threads on their passenger side wheels..!?

Hard to say why your wrench didn’t ‘click’ when undoing that nut.? Odd.

Good point Graham.:Cheers2: Some 50's GM products were the same, Oldsmobile for example. Don't ask me how I know.:D

Perhaps a click in reverse is a clack and therefore received no recognition.

You know this just might make a theft deterrent for wheels, just put one stud on the wheel hub with reverse threads. :Banghead: You just would have to remember which one.

The heads on my wrenches have the abi
lity to ratchet in reverse, but only to get yourself out of a tight spot. It's hard to explain, but say the area you are in is cramped and you need all the range of motion available. Once the fastener is tight you may need to reverse the head just to get out.
Because the ratchet head can be reversed doesn't mean it can torque in reverse.
CCW wrenches need to be bought for this purpose.
I'm not 100% certain if there is a bidirectional wrench out there, but I have never seen one. Kind of like unicorns, aliens , and leprechauns. Lol

Interesting jube455, I was putting the seats back in my car this year, they were supposed to be torqued to 37 foot pounds, but the nut closest to the tunnel in the back made it impossible to get the wrench out. Never heard of this torque wrench ratchet before but it makes sense. The old wrenches with the pointer and gauge would work either way, I still have one of those kicking around somewhere. Wonder how accurate they were?

I need to back myself up a bit and swallow my pride. Lol
I'm referencing the click type , the pointer type are bidirectional.
And....I just did some looking on new wrenches ( I haven't had to buy one in 20 years). There are bidirectional wrenches of all sorts of styles, sorry folks for feeding you false news.

took the one purchased at crappy tie back for a refund as they now have one on sale until the end of today that is a
