Hi everyone (I'm new)

I guess the reason why I joined was because I keep seeing dealers pricing used 2020-2022 C8s in the 85k+ CAD and I don't understand why that is the case. Are they hoping people don't know the MSRPs? Or are they irrelevant in this market? I don't want to get laughed out of the dealer when I ask for a 15k discount & I want to understand the true value of 1-2lt 2020-2022 used cars. Any advice?

Welcome to the forum ! You can take a look at the attached to get a bit of a feel for how everything works. Enjoy.

Our prices reflect the American market. 2020 base 1LT cars can be had for $55-60K USD down south which is $79-86K CAD. Why would a dealer discount it to you for $70,000 when they can wholesale it for much more with no questions asked? MSRP values don't matter for resale anymore. My friend just picked up a 2020 3LT Z51 for $91,000 + tax and another grabbed the same spec for $99,999 + tax. With warmer weather approaching, expect them to climb a little more.

Used Corvette prices are very subject to local conditions and prices vary widely even within provinces. There are some good deals to be had on new left over 2024 models at some of the larger Ontario dealers. Many of those units have been sitting in "storage" over the winter and dealers will soon be bringing them out front once the weather gets nice so keep your eyes open for some good pricing. Keep an eye out in this publication for some deals from the sponsors.

Thanks, Please don't steal all the good deals everyone, I want 1 :)

What trim do you want? Relatively speaking you will likely see larger discounts on higher trims than you will on a 1LT. One of the big Ontario dealers sold a Blue 1LT with less than 100km on it 2 weeks ago for 79900...basically a new car....they took it on trade on an Escalade. If it had been another colour I would have likely jumped on it. If you search for used across Canada 79900 might get you a 2020-2022 20-30k km 1LT....better off paying in the 80's and getting a 2LT or 3LT...There are tons of them.

I also see so many used ones, certainly more than 50% of listings, have been on the market many weeks, if not months.

My conclusion is that the listing prices on used ones is based more upon what the dealer paid at auction or for trade for each unit as market values have tanked. I could be wrong . Good luck!

Better hurry then? lol..
On another topic why doesn't new dealers open on Sunday?? Almost everything open on Sunday? May be the only day that peoples have time to do such. A family outing and I bet it may close more deals?

Perhaps a few of the employees would prefer to attend church.

if you are looking for a used 2020-2022 C8, shoot to pay the original MSRP for a clean, good spec. Think of it this way if a 2021 2LT HTC with NPP exhaust was $90,500 in 2021, the same spec in 2024/2025 is $113,500. That is a difference of $23,000 that you save if you bought a low mileage 2021. Even if the dealer gives you $10,000 discount on a 2025, it still will cost you $13,000 more.

you should narrow down what spec you want: Coupe vs HTC, 1LT vs 2LT vs 3LT, z51 or non-z51, mag ride?

finally, I think you if you want one, and ready to buy, you should buy ASAP before tariffs increase MSRP and decrease supply of new C8s in Canada, therefore increasing used C8 demand and prices.

Try not to forget that you are also buying a 3 or 4 year old car.
These things are still subject to depreciation, regardless of what we would all like to believe.
Yes, on some models there have been extrodinary circumstances increasing the value, but I don't believe that is true in general.

dealers and sellers on Autotrader seem to disagree

Reading all these comments is really helpful. If the extra $20,000 that C8s cost now is out of the picture for my tiny wallet, perhaps a C7 is more realistic. I'll look into more numbers and dig around here, seems like a good spot for info.

I won't be young forever so if I'm in the position to get into a sports car now I want to. I just want to do things right.

If you do go for a C7, just make sure it's a stick. A lot more fun!

if a C8 is what you want, a C7 will not cut it, and you will continue to want a C8.
