......just wondering what all you C3 guys ( or others ) are revving at going down the highway ? My bone stock 82 Crossfire 350 at 100km is about the 1550-1600 mark, and at 130 it is sitting on 2000 rpm. great milage cruiser .

yeah , first year for o/d 700 tranny , was the only trans availbale in 1982......no 4spd std only year also. If I remember right the diff is 2.87 ratio , so with the .70 overdrive gear it just idles down the road. mine has the optional 2.55/60/15 tires. Man Graham your 75 is really revving at 80, must take off quick too.

It's a fun slalom car.....
The ZZ4 motor just loves to sit at 3500-4000 all day ..
We've had it on many trips around Western Canada to autocross events and also to Vegas and California.
The acceleration from 4000 is quite good as well.. All the way to 6900+.

Graham

Here's the difference between old and newer.
Mine is auto with a 2:56 rear
A hair over 1500 rpm and a hair over 70 mph

Had mine out yesterday.... 7th gear.... 100 Kph at 1150 rpm, 125 Kph at 1450 rpm... 150 Kph at 1750 rpm..... errrrr....ummmm..... actually the 150 Kph was really a mathematical calculation.. I don't even know if the car will go that fast......:angelic::angelic::angelic:....

Oh man Eric that is idling down the road. That is about what my 49 with the diesel is turning and getting 45 mpg. Yeah not sure if yours can pull going 150 !!! truth is yours can probably go that fast just cranking the starter !!!!!!

Curious Eric, when you are in 7th at 1150 rpm at 100 kph what is the throttle response like? In sixth I could pull out and pass some one but not quickly, I would have to downshift if there was any urgency to the pass. I find it just incredible how these machines can run like they have been scalded but will still give the gas milage that they do.

Pretty impressive.

Throttle response is pretty much non existent in 7th at that rpm Murray. It's marginally better up in the 1500 range. If I'm vegetating along on the QE2 Hwy ( all 4 lane), I will pass at a leisurely pace and stay in 7th but if I want to impress myself or anyone else, I will downshift and get my foot into it.... I am pretty use to it though as my LS3 was pretty lethargic in 6th gear as well. Those are the ratios that allow us to achieve the high 30's for mpg (imperial mpg) so I am more than willing to down shift when I need to. It's a short easy throw from 7th to 4th and voila`... instant jack-rabbit adrenalin rush ...lol....
