What is this part?

Well i was monkeying around with my c5 and came across this. It's by the left knee panel beside the steering wheel. I believe it's a relay of some sort, possibly column lock? anyway...is it supposed to be connected to anything and if so...where? because mine is just dangling and i don't recall ever disconnecting the connector ends

Looks like part of the K harness installed in your car when the steering column lock recall was done. Can you follow it to the other end?

the relay has 2 connectors on the opposite end...neither of them are connected to anything. according to the thread you mentioned...that's the way it's supposed to be?

Looks and sounds like the K-harness. Maybe someone disconnected it but couldn't get it out so in it stayed!

lol yes. it splits exactly like that.

As far as i can tell mine is held by a zip tie right now. This is safe to remove the next time i go monkeying around behind the knee panel correct?

For sure, get rid of it. It'll help reduce rattles in the dash as well as make your car faster from the reduced weight!
