Very new

Budget is a factor. I recently helped a buyer and a seller but not before I knew a bit more. You looking for manual or automatic? Coupe or convertible? I know of two potentially decent 2008+ C6. One base at about $25k and the other a bit more rare and $65k ....

I'm one of those retired guys and I'd like to buy a corvette, probably a C5 or C6. Any suggestions on years to purchase or avoid and options I should be looking for?

For the C6 personally I wouldn’t buy anything before 2008. 08 - 2013 is ok for me. For models...engine... frame differences a bit of google time will have you well educated. Just remember the tops do not come off the C6 Z06 models and the C6 are all manual transmissions. But there are many beautiful and sound C6 cars out there.

The C5 pilots can chime in on their cars.... and we have some beautiful C5s on here.

Either generation you will find some very sweet and well cared for cars.

A maintained and preferably lower mileage C5 or the same in a C6 are both great generations and cars. The LS motors are good engines, and as D. leaned toward above, the 08 on years do have some improvements and additional horsepower. Body style is personal choice. Options also depend on you. It comes down to your wants.Trim levels: 1LT is the base, 2LT and 3LT being the higher optioned. Heads up display, Sound and navigation, Bluetooth, Upgraded leather, Mag ride suspension, and all the things I'm not thinking of, are things you should look into and decide if they are on your want list. They are all gorgeous, great cars that you will love.

There were some small changes over the years for the C6 such as the addition of bluetooth for handsfree and there was a change in the seats towards the end of the generation. I would suggest you do your research, decide what you absolutely need and what you would like to have and set a budget. Then have patience to find one that will put that Corvette grin on your face.
