Hi guys, other than taping it shut does anyone have any tips for maintenance on the cover hinges, it sounds like they are going to break every time my wife opens the lid and i see that breakage is a common problem ....

gave it a try, my side is better but the passenger's side still bad, maybe i'll just crazy glue it shut ... lol
Daub the Q-tip again with a lube of your choice and try it with the flap open and also closed. There is a small knife edge to the flap that squeaks on a plastic piece. I just did mine again... and had to work both driver and passenger side 15-20 times before it went quiet. It may take several applications to get those flaps quiet.
I got tired of replacing the sun visor when there was no replaceable covers available.
I used lube to keep the plastic hinges from breaking but unfortunately, the visor covers hit against the Targa top as well, so it puts extra pressure on the lids.
I simply replaced the vanity assembly on the passenger side with one from a Pontiac G8. I removed the assembly from the G8 visor and installed into the C6 sun visor.
The driver vanity was replaced with a camera monitor.
