Transmission filler

I got a notice in the mail yesterday from GM, about the transmission filter it goes in to detail about when to get the filter changed, however nowhere in this notice does GM say that the first filter change is free of charge.
Is it a free first filter change free or not, between 12,000 Kms / 13,000 Kms my C8 is a new 2024 87kms on it.

On your 2024 it is free anytime in the first 3 years once your car reaches the threshold of 12000km plus or minus 500km.

GM has already denied DCT warranty for the remainder of the 5 year powertrain warranty on a car in the USA for lack of proper maintenance of the DCT filter/fluid.

Short answer, yes it is included in purchase price.

My guess is they are trying to hide the fact it’s included.

Your dealer if they are honest should make that clear when you go in for service . One would hope that at least.

Sure but seriously whether it is spelled out in black & white print on the window build sheet or in a letter mailed out. As owners of a C8 having spent $100K+ their is a certain responsibility we have in knowing the maintenance schedule of our cars. GM and dealerships can always make improvements in transparency but the buck stops with us. The C8 is a fantastic vehicle but with it’s own set of potential issues some that can become a big problem. I realize that I am preaching to the choir here, it will be people who do not follow a Forum, speak with other C8 owners, check out YouTube or READ the Owners Manual that run a higher risk of missing a service interval free or otherwise.

I would think if either someone is paying for this filter change when they purchase a vehicle (included in the price) or it has become an issue that GM only released after a year or so of production, it should be in black and white, on the window sticker, in the manual, on the GM letter and that GM dealership’s should be letting buyers know when they take delivery, I purchased a brand new 2021 C8 and at that time I think GM didn’t know the C8 had this issue with the transmission, you only got one free oil change and no transmission filter change with the 2020 and 2021 C8s and you had to pay for the filter change yourself, I think GM then started including the cost of the filter change in the price of the C8 for year 2022.
It’s not a matter of knowing the services needed, it’s the fact that if your not told about the free filter change and how long you have to use it, you are more than likely going to get charged for it.
Yes I paid over $100k for me C8 (again) and this doesn’t mean because I can afford it, I’m not going to want my free filter change, I see right on the window sticker in black and white, it says I get 2 free oil changes and I will use them and so will near everybody else, however it’s not in black and white about the filter change and if you don’t know, you don’t get.

You are correct that the black and white does not spell out the free warranty dct filter and it should. I hope that you are not relying on your sales person or service dept to inform you about such things. Our reality hasn’t quite caught up with what you are looking for. I suspect your comment has more to do with pointing out dealership/GM’s poor initial transparency. There are numerous C8 technical bulletins, some that specifically spell out the dct filter warranty coverage period terms clearly (which we have seen and read as they change). For anyone new to the C8, the fact is that many of the people at the dealerships just aren’t up to speed on the ever changing GM C8 policy, especially as it relates to the free dct filter service warranty terms. A little time spent by owners seeking out information on CCF or elsewhere online will go along way in ensuring their purchase gets the best service attention due when the time comes. Relying on others to have your back these days unfortunately is a recipe for disappointment or worse.
