That takes me back! As a kid mid 70’s would go to the custom van & bike shows each year at the international Center (big trade show space in Malton ON.) all of the vans with custom paint, interiors, etc. Lovingly called “Shaggon wagons”
Lots of star wars themed painted vans I recall at the ‘77 show!

Yes, yes, I was at most of those shows too.
Ken Kay was one of the best air brush artists around. 2 buddies had his work on their vans.
I still go to the Int Centre once a yr for the bike show.
I put a Trans Am exhaust on the van above (because that black / gold was my fav car too). You can see the pipes on the side.
Double butterfy sunroofs. Air horn system from a Kenworth. Fridge stove table / bed, tv (roof antenna). I had a custom built waterbed for it too. Did not last as handling was, uh.....bad.
Fun times.
p.s. no shag.....pannelled and hardwood floor (ease of cleanup.....I did up another van prior with carpet......live / learn)

So here is my before and after picture. Yes different wheels of car but you get the idea.

Just a thought...... I feel that if the Silver in the Original Center Caps matched the rim color it would look awesome.
On the C7 Center Caps, the Crossed Flags are removable giving you the option to Paint the Caps. Not sure if it is the same on the C8

But it’s the black flags I don’t like. Just because my trim is all bright. I think the wheel caps should have been silver with a silver trim pack. I like the stingray caps. They are growing on me.

Sometimes when you make a change you have to adjust to it, then you wonder what too you so long 🙂. BTW, congrats and I love your Car.

@ABC Here is a link to a post on modifying these caps. You can refinish the crossed flags and use any color of vinyl you want as "Corvette Mods" in Texas and likely many others have the backgrounds and crossed flags for sale. Cheap to buy as well.

post 218 and 219 to see the final result.

post 145 on how to do it with the vinyl.

The vinyl sticks on really well. The wheels have seen multiple car washes with the pressure washer and not a problem.

hope this helps.

I think I also read somewhere an easy way to take the centre caps off without removing the wheel was to just use duct tape over the centre cap and pull and they should pop right off.

Once I had my wheels removed to change these but...
I have learned to use a plastic card. Most say credit card, but I use one of the multiple hotel loyalty cards or something you can damage and not care. Just work it in the long way and move it around the circumference carefully as you pull the cap away as it disengages.

So yes it can be done and with a bit of practice takes seconds.

Thanks! Will check it out. Will be looking to winter projects for sure.
