Tires in cold are like someone poured oil on them!

I think lot of Vettes were delivered to sub zero locations before the tire issue was brought to light. You don't have to move the car very far before the tires crack. A local member took delivery of his 2014 in January of this year, (Winnipeg was experiencing its coldest winter in a 100 years) all the car was moved was from the transport truck to the dealer PDI area and by the time it was loaded onto a flat deck the tires were cracked, some severe. The Vette barely moved 200 meters in total.

Currently visiting in Regina and Weaton Chev has a very nice yellow convertible, Z51, 3LT, black rims, yellow calipers, competition seats, carbon badges, carbon fiber interior trim, carbon color spoiler and mirrors, 7 speed $89,900 pretty much all options.
Sweet looking C7

I will be able to report back here about tire cracks in the next week or so. My C7 Z51 is now in Windsor awaiting a Canadian haul to my dealer. I should have the my C7 sometime in the first week of January.

The plan is to drive it the 1 or 2 km journey home f the roads are dry but flat bed it home if severely cold or the roads are wet and salty.

I hope you are kidding. A little bit of snow is not going to hurt your tires. Extreme cold is the problem. Unless you are seeing -30 below zero C when your car arrives you will be fine. They are cranking out Z06's in Kentucky and storing them in the lot. I guarantee it will be below zero soon enough. They are not going to stop making cars because it gets cold.

Not kidding at all actually. It is not the snow that concerns me. The salt and brine on the roads concerns me even for the short journey. The real concern is the cold. Dry day (no salt or brine to work its way around the undercarriage) but dry could mean bitter cold. I am not worried about traction because I will start in Weather mode or start in a higher gear so as to lessen stress on the compound.

That all said, forecast into next week has low temps around -10C here.

Best of luck getting your new Corvette home VINDIC8R. Weather does not look too bad although I know you get more lake effect snow than we do a little to the east of you.

Must be getting excited about getting it home. Enjoy the beast.

Thank you very much. Yes. I will be anxious to get it into my garage even if I am forced to just look at it and read the manuals until Spring [sigh]. I could possibly go through a whole tank of fuel and the buggy will not have traveled more than a couple of kilometres - just running it up to temp and listening to the NPP. :)

:)

My buddy transports high end cars for dealerships in an enclosed trailer..... worth it..

Sorry, he is in Edmonton, not Ontario

Brian

I would go with covered transport if I can find someone locally. To bring up a transport from Toronto might be cost prohibitive especially since it is just a brisk walk to the dealer.

I am thinking you are worrying too much. No snow. No snow. At least till you get it home.

Any race car guys up there with an empty enclosed trailer? Just in case I am wrong.

Good idea. Thanks. I will check around.

You can also flat bed the car???

Oh I would do that but initially I am just concerned about scraping the front as it nudges to the ramp and likewise when the car is taken off the flat bed. A couple of tow companies here can flat bed.

I drove mine home from the dealership yesterday in Ottawa, roads where dry, no snow here at all, I just took it easy, but you can tell the tires just want to spin, because of the cold temp, iam happy I drove it, iam so impressed, cant compare the drive quality to my viper.
traction control light came up acouple times...but the was my fault..
