Hey Guy's,

I want to get new tires for my 78, presently running with 245/60-15's and want to go with 255/60-15 on the car.

What are you C3 owners running with and is there really much of a difference or advantage?

Post pictures if you have them...

Thanks!

I ran 255/60 on my 1980 when i had it. no problems!!!!....... Coopers cobras!!!

Stock for 78 was 225/70 R 15, however 78 was the first year the cars weren't hand assembled so the clearances are more accurate. You should have no problem running 255/60 R15 (which are closer to stock diameter, 27.40" stock -- 27.05" for 255's). I've been told 255/60 will only fit some of the pre 78 cars since they were hand assembled. I went with 245/60 on the front of my 73 but stuck with 255/60 in the rear to keep the speedo more accurate. They fit fine, but I am sure the 255/60 would rub in the front.

Ohhh... this changes things!

This is the exact problem that I seem to be running into with conflicting theories as to whether the 255/60's will rub in the front. I can't seem to get a definiate answer and not that I don't believe LATNC5. Mr. T you brought up some very good and knowledgeable points with the 78 model. Thanks very much to you both for your reply...!!!
