The rebuild process has restarted again

Today I am going to pick up the differential at my mom's and I will continue with the rebuilding process.
The differential is not leaking anymore and I made sure that the mechanic keeps it at his shop for at least a month to make sure it's 100% leaky proof. If my differential was fixed properly from the start my car would be on the road a lot sooner. It really sucks when this kinda things kinda happens. You have a goal that you want to drive your car that year and it gets pushed back because some shady mechanic doesn't do the work properly.

So I will post some pictures everytime I am working on my C3 and I am sure I will need your help during the assembly process.

Of course we have all heard the fuzzy wuzzy 'patience is a virtue'...and 'good things come to those who wait' sayings.... but those were penned by people we have long since forgot because they usually mean squat.... The saying that applies to most of us here would be.. 'Good things come to those who take action, commit, put in the work, persist, and persevere'.
You are on the right track Sly and the smile on your face when your baby is on the road will more than make up for the delays you've encountered man....

Last night I was just doing an inventory of my parts and I suddenly remember that I need to replace 2 identical pieces since each of the screws broke off. I need to find a replacement for these. Can someone tell me if they ever spotted these parts on an online Corvette car parts store? Those pieces go at the back at the corners of the metal rear bumper bracket. Check the pictures.

Hey Guys,

I finally put the differential back in the car and now I am going to buy some stainless steel fuel lines that I need to buy. The only fuel lines I currently have is Tank to Pump.

I will post some pictures soon

Not sure where you are located, but Classic Tube in Lancaster NY will have what you need. I just purchased all 4 lines, all stainless steel. Reasonably priced, and great people to deal with. I am close to the border and was able to pick them up.
 
Thank you Norm07 I am buying the fuel lines from Classic Tube on Tuesday.. Much cheaper than Corvette Central..
 
So far the differential and the gas tank is install on my C3 and I will order the fuel lines on Tuesday.... yay so happy..

Are you replacing the rear bumper cap with a fibreglas piece or putting the original urethane piece back on the car?

I am putting the original bumper back which it's in great condition. The reason I removed the whole bumper and spoiler off is to have everything powercoated which means the whole rear bumper bracket at the back-end. Everything is powercoated and it cost me a pretty pretty too.

I want this car to last long and I am so glad this is my first toy that I enjoy working when a there is no ECM and no sensors. it's just fun to work on those.

I used to own like 80's cavaliers z24's and Beretta GT's and Citation X-11's and those cars are no frame and not alot of space to work on and I really hated working on the GM 2.8 V6 where they put the coil packs on the front of the engine where exhaust manifolds were and the radiator fan too..

I used to own a 1987 Buick Grand National too but I was young and stupid and the frame was busted and I had to sell it.

I owned an ‘89 Z24 as well.
It was a great car..2.8L and was surprisingly quick.
I also know about those coil packs..i had to replace them a couple of times.
We put 317K kms on that car. sold It in 2003 to a co-worker’s son and he still drives it today.

Removing ther rear bumper cover on the Vette does allow improved access to the rear end of the car. I changed my cover years ago and wrote a pictorial on here at that time. I made new spreader brackets to improve the fastening of the body parts.

Did you install the 3 gaskets that goes between the body and rear bumper?

The parts I was mentioning in my last post are actually called Bumper Cover retainer.

Hi Sly..
I know the brackets you speak of.
They are like the factory 3-piece brackets with threaded studs.
I instead went with the individual stud kit from Eclkers.
Corvette Bumper Retainer Kit, Rear, 1974-1982

I also made some aluminum spreader bars myself to fasten the parts together.


On a side note..
I have seen some thin gasket material between the body parts in the past.
Not sure if that is stock.,?!
