It is worth taking a few moments to look at the life of Briggs Cunningham whose team raced C1 Corvettes including the one in this video. Cunningham was an American sportsman who excelled in competition in a number of arenas. He was introduced to road racing in the 1930's and had a passion for it. In 1950 he entered Le Mans with two Cadillacs, one stock and one the French called Le Monstre, an aerodynamic beast of a car. He then went on to build his own race cars under the Cunningham name. Chrysler power, Offenhauser power, whatever he thought would take to win Le Mans. The French loved him and his big booming race cars. He and his racers were a huge draw in the 50's and early 60's

His team campaigned Ferraris, Jaguars, Corvettes, Maserati, OSCA and Porsche with a star studded field of drivers all over the world. In 1952 Cunningham drove 20 hours of a 24 hour race when the driver line up just did not work. He won America's Cup in 1958 in his 12 metre yacht Columbia.

He may have been the ultimate sportsman.

Great video Nik.
