Totally disagree. You might as well just leave it in auto. In auto you can shift it manually if you want to.
What happens when you pull the paddle JUST as it shifts up. Then you're up 2 gears.
I'd rather they program out the anti bog feature on manual where it down shifts as you decelerate.

The down shift is to prevent the engine from lugging . But I hear what you mean in that when you are in manual mode and are slowing down and happen to down shift just as the software decides to you can go from 3rd to 1st which is as annoying as seeing the face of Trump . Also if you are in manual the software won't allow an up shift if the revs are too low or a down shift if they are too high which maybe isn't a bad thing . Then of course there is the Rev limiter which is definitely good . All of this is another good argument for 3 pedals .

Agreed. You don't learn when there are too many safeguards. I'd rather have a stick and 3 pedals. You say lug I say bog. Either way it's not a good thing to do, but if it happens you learn quick not to let it happen. Just as you learn quick not to hit the rev limiter

Absolutely, I have bounced off the Rev limiter a couple of times in track mode and manual because it will hit redline so quickly and you have to time it perfectly. This is tricky when you are trying to keep your eyes on the road . You can't beat auto mode in this regard and 1/4 mile times in manual vs auto show that quite clearly.

Funny, I hit the rev limiter when I forget I'm in manual mode. Usually because it downshifts when slowing to a stop light and I forget to upshift when it goes green. With 3 pedals the clutch pedal would be down as a constant reminder. lol
I guess if I spent all the time in manual I'd get the hang of it.

Ya. I'm in manual mode 95% of the time . The thing I found a bit awkward at first was turning from a stop at an intersection and having to shift to second part way through the turn but I quickly realized at that point the up paddle is right beside your left hand . I don't even think about it anymore, it's just " automatic " , lol.

Ya, that's another thing I don't like. Race cars have a much quicker turning circle so they don't need to remove their hands from the wheel.

I think my Tundra will do a 180 as easily as my C8 . Part of the problem with the car is the width of the tires it seems although the actual numbers show the C8 at 36.4 ft and the Tundra at 48 . Sure doesn't feel that way though. Interestingly enough with mag ride the turning radius is 2 ft less in the C8 as opposed to stock shocks . So says AI . Also found this .........

With no powertrain in the way and no drive to the front axle dictating constant-velocity-joint angles, it's possible to really crank the front wheels of the C8 Corvette when maneuvering in tight quarters—but only at low speeds and when neither front wheel is articulating over some bump.

The electric power steering, informed by myriad speed and wheel-position sensors, imposes "virtual stops" that limit steering angle based on speed and conditions. At its most extreme limits, the Corvette's turn circle is just 36.4 feet curb to curb, down from the C7's 37.7 feet. This is especially impressive given that the C8's wheelbase is a half-inch longer (at 107.2 inches). Note, without the FE4 suspension, the turn circle diameter is 38.1 feet.
