Well crap .Got nailed today. Not a big one, 65 in a 50 in a 4 lane industrial zone no less. Never mind the $50.00 bucks and never mind the possible increase in my insurance Premium. What really gets me pissed is that I have to believe that if I was driving my HHR I would have been let off. I think that as soon as this ahole saw it was a corvette in his sights it was game over.So in an effort to make me feel better (and it's all about me) anyone want to share a story about their run ins with the police

I have not had a run in with the police yet and I run tinted windows in my car. They are not a dark tint, but tinted never the less. So, it's only time before I get pulled over. As Fender likes to remind me, I couldn't get within 20% of the speed limit if my life depended on it...however, I think he has been pulled over by the police but I'll let him explain if he gets on here.

As for the cop pulling you over for driving your Corvette vs. the HHR, all I can suggest is driving your HHR through the industrial zone at 65 and seeing if they let you off.:D

I got followed by a cop for 8 kms with his radar gun blasting up my rectum. When I wouldn't speed and he could tell I was almost home... He gave me a tinting ticket. I asked him if he was really so dense that it took him that long to see the tint. Cops aren't supposed to single people out like that. I told him Buford T Justice and the tax payers would be happy with how he just spent the last 30 minutes if his night and I left.

I'm pretty careful for that exact reason, 120 in the minivan, they'll let you go by, 120 in the 'Vette- you're toast! I think being in a Vette invites all sorts of behavior from those around you- guys that want to race, people almost crashing as they stare, thumbs up from just about anyone, and extra-vigilant officers writing you up for, you-name-the offense.

I have to admit though I have not been bothered. There are a LOT of 'Vette's where I live, Tony can testify to that, and there seems to be more every year, so perhaps since they are a common sight they don't attract as much attention. I nicknamed the car the "Silver Streak" and I can imagine what it would look like coming towards a speed trap. It looks like it's speeding when standing still, so can't fault the officers for noticing sometimes.

No ticket for me yet. I am actually kind of surprised I haven 't even been pulled over. When I bought the car I was 21 and it is a red corvette. I figured that those two alone would attract the cops. But nope, I have had a bunch of nodes from cops as they drive by though.

No speeding tickets yet.......and that's only because I have a gps in my hands to tell him when he's speeding, lol. (speedometer doesn't work properly since the motor/tranny transplant) Then there's the matter of STOMPING ON THE GAS when we're leaving our Thursday Corvette get-together. :nono: Someday there's going to be a cop there. Not sure what kind of fine that's worth.

I was followed very close [ about a block away] five times last year. When in my truck [Jeep SRT8] I never get followed home. I definitely agree, that if you drive a Vette or any other high end sports car, you'll get unfairly profiled! I would say that the majority of Cops still like to put a notch in their belts pulling over Vettes and others sport cars. I now stick to the speed limit or a little over when I'm in my Vette:D

Ask Fender. I'm sure he can tell you how to get out of a ticket when your foot slips.:D

Good point. I'd better start being more careful in my town.

Cops...

just a quick peice of advice, when you see a cop obviously do the speed limit and if you have illegally tinted windows, just roll down your window so the cop can see you. I have never had a problem with my illegal tint jobs:seeya:

That is usually my standard operating procedure.

The catch is having to see the cops to roll the windows down. I was told by a tow truck driver that they wouldn't bother me with the tint I have as they have better things to do.

Dam speed limit I thought it was just a suggestion. While visiting in Devon,AB.
Photo radar on 2 lane divided highway. 40 over, after looking at the ticket it says it is a laser based system and I have been looking at the Antilaser G9 system for the last 2 months now. Trying to justify buying one, well the order has been placed. kmph.ca
I have the Blinder M47 led based system on my dodge diesel and it works, the Antilaser G9 is suppose to be better.
I also use 2 different radar detectors Escort passport in the truck and the Bel STI Driver in the vette( this one would work great for eastern canada totally undetectable )

For detector/jammer reviews and testing visit Radar Roys website

That right pedal is alot more fun than the left one !!

Mine is the shifter ZR4 by Bel and it integrated with my Passport 9500ix flawlessly. I think that the blinder system is probably better but I got mine professionally installed and thats what they carry. No complaints. :)

Blinder M47 Or laser interceptor also detector (laser only) warns you that laser is pointed at vech. adjust speed to posted limit than shut off unit or use auto shut off feature 7 or 10 second. This way they get a speed reading of your vech. unit doubles as parking assist device, firmware is updateable.
The laser gun will read zeros or dashes with no speed reading if unit is left on.
sorry got my brand names mixed up laser interceptor is the best unit

check out radar roys jammer tests
best to worst
laser interceptor
anti laser g9
