We saw the news this morning. Glad they caught the idiot. He was likely drunk which is why he abandoned the car. They can't prove he was in care and control of it that way. He'll likely claim the car was stolen. Too bad, because they'll likely take a plea deal.

Hopefully there is a video somewhere that will confirm he was in the driver's seat.

With the number of cameras these days, he and his car will likely show up on the "freeway footage" or better yet, they may be able to track his cell phone with the cell towers, since like most people today and especially 24 year olds, he likely had a cell phone with him while driving. And if he didn't wipe down his vehicle there could be prints (his only). Finally, there may have been witnesses who can put him behind the driver seat although maybe not since it was likely dark outside (around 3 a.m.) with headlights obscuring a view of the driver, and only the highway artificial lighting available. That may pose a problem for the camera views as well. Interesting he was driving while suspended; he likely thought he could do so, during the wee hours of the morning. The main thing at this point, is the highway worker recovering from his "life-altering injuries".
