Scarborough new guy

Here is my AMX as of the end of June this year after a guy turned left right in front of me on a quiet street as I returned from the yearly AMC meet in Manchester...

The car was written off but I am buying it back and will "bring it back to life"

Sorry to see that happen to such a nice car. Certainly looks fixable. What insurance company if you don't mind me asking?

Greg.

It was insured with Silver Wheels/Hagerty via Lant. Great to deal with.
Right front rail and A pillar are slightly "tweaked". I've arranged for them to be "pulled" by a bodyshop in Oshawa who understand and do a lot of collector cars.
It is difficult to find good pieces for these AMXs. I'm guessing one to two years to have it back good.

Good to know as I'm insured with them as well. Hope it all works out for you. Car is too nice and too rare to scrap.

Damn VR -- sorry to see the damnage -- hope they can straighten it out ok for you.
Beauty AMX -- brings back some fond memories.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the "well wishes" folks. Especially welcome coming from Corvette folk.
Like me... you pretty well all appreciate "special" cars no matter what make.

Guess we'd better get back to Corvette talk again for a while :)

HI DAVID! I see you've been properly welcomed to the forum and can see what a great bunch of people there are on here. I'm sure you'll fit right in!

In light of moving on to Corvette talk, is your car stock? Any modifications or future modifications planned?

And back to the AMX :D Sorry to see the damage, that picture is painful to look at!!! Best of luck with a speedy recovery with the car!

My '87 Corvette was basically a one owner... the daughter had it for a year or so and put about 1,000 km on it before I came upon it. It is all stock and unmolested. I'll need to put new mufflers and some weatherstripping on it and sort out a few minor issues then I should be on the road.

sorry I'm late to the party but welcome! A fellow Scarborough resident here! If you see a black c5 in the north end of Scarborough it's probably me. Don't forget to wave! :seeya:

:seeya: hello Pyro.
For a while you'll be wondering why some guy in a white minivan is waving at you!
When the white '87 C4 is on the road it will all make sense :) ,

Welcome aboard David.......i have many fond memories of "Scarbeeria" growing up in Sutton, Ontario. I also have a white Vette (2013 Anniversary Z06). No matter what generation you drive, you will share the passion of the Vette Experience. Getting back to American Motors.....does anybody have any passion for the 4 wheel drive Eagle? I would hope not......

Growing up (or perhaps should i say when i was in primary school), my mom drove a two tone brown Pacer. My friends called it the "fish bowl". It only became cool after the release of the movie "Waynes World". Party on Wayne.....party on Garth......

LOL Adam -- the 4 wheel EAgle was the car my Dad liked. It has a following too.
Not a performance car but a terrific SUV by any measure.

The Pacer and Gremlin had their following too......:D

welcome David

Hello David,

Welcome to a great site with some of the most help full people around. I am from Pickering myself so I may see you around.

As for the Corvette wave, even my daughter is doing it when she comes for a ride. Something special about vette lovers.
:D

I'm used to waving at any older special interest car when I'm out in one of mine. Does this mean that when I'm in the '87 Corvette I can wave at any other Corvette? That would be good!
Way back in the '60s when I had a Mini... Mini drivers would all either wave or give a "peace" sign (or both).
