Saw My First C8 Today

No doubt about it that I love my Corvettes.
No doubt about it that I like the Corvettes of others.
I read the thread as "better looking" and as also expected, it took a twist.
As a former Chevy II guy, then Camaro guy, then Grand Prix guy ...
take what you want ... it doesn't matter.
I have been to many Corvette only Show and Shines and spent
a few hours getting the smudges off. The last big one we had
all 7 generations side by side and very few people walked by
the C3 on first impressions. This is my continued observation
(not opinion) even on my most recent Kananaskis Cruise. That
darn C3 had every little tykes finger pointing on first glance.
Even without knowing that this C3 also had some pretty good
punch under the hood too.
So as I learned quickly with my first C7, I gotta say that the C8 fellas
will get looks (when they have one) as they are the new kid on the block.
However in good time it will not last ... I know of an awesome C3
that is available and it is so hard not to grab it. It was the Corvette
that I first noticed and pointed to as a Kid ...

So as some of this thread goes, now wondering which of the new C8 fellas
will eventually get the C8Z's (when it shows up) and then perhaps trash-talk
the initial release C8s? Really hoping it's not the case as It's kinda looming
with an awkward pretentious atmosphere and in meet & greet discussions.
Not the first time of course and it can become reason why some may find
themselves standing alone (even if being good with that - to each their own).
Just saying without directly pointing fingers.

and on the note of finger pointing ...
Get use it with a Corvette and
may it is always with the index finger.

This car has a great future in front of it with hidden features waiting to be discovered
Set the DeLorean back to just before the mid 50's and fire up the flux capacitor ...
I think you may find (agree) that you are not the only one in 7 Corvette generations to say this

Well I have had my first weekend with my baby and all I can say is awesome! This car has exceeded my expectations for sure. Just brilliant handling, power, etc. I was worried that the roof panel would be a two person job but it is not. I can easily remove and store myself. The looks, waves, photos, videos, etc. that this car has had in just two days is incredible. I know short lived due to the rarity at the moment but really this is a beautiful car in my opinion. GM team should certainly be proud.

There are those that buy cars for bragging rights. There are those that buy them for the joy they bring. I fall into the later camp. My car is for my enjoyment alone and if it brings joy to others great, if not, don't really care. I have no intentions of upgrading to the newest, latest, or greatest. This was my pick for me. I will wave as long as I see you, I will point with my index as I truly love all vettes of any year! Let's enjoy the cars while we can. Soon enough they will be banned. Petrol cars outlawed. Electric only. Hope not but the way we are going....

It will be one hell of a long time before petrol is history. Just look at your clothes. If there is plastic in there then it is because petrol is available. Now if we lived in a nudist camp all year long. thoughts of peeing in to wind in winter come to mind, we would have no need for petrol. Except maybe to keep warm

AND you brought it to me! I saw my first C8 today and got to have a ride in it also! Thanks so much ABC for taking the time to show me your baby.
It is certainly a world class car!
Such a blast!

OK so now I think ABC has to "spread the joy" and include all others on the Forum...when will I expect to see you and your C8 in Edmonton?? I know it'll be delayed somewhat as you drive across our great country and stop in along with way with everyone else, but I look forward to your best guesstimate. :canada:

DITTO.... and well said.

I might also add, I'm attracted to the technology in this car. I'm actually looking forward to more of them driving around so it DOESN'T stand out and attract so much attention. Just want to travel everywhere with it, park it anywhere, meet up with new people, have a lot of fun, and not worry about someone damaging it or stealing it.
Then again... I'm one of those guys that like all North American sports cars, so? :canada:.

I'm not very far south of Murray ABC.... so if your'e ever in the Whitby area.... :Cheers2:

Hey @Murray20c8 are you built? You might be if they're still one week ahead. You're VIN has to be available by now?

No, not even a vin yet. Someone on Facebook with a mid Feb allocation is September! Still lots of cars to build.
Anyway, Shane at the museum says my vin will likely appear later this week. I'll ask again on Thursday.
That will likely give me a build day of 7/30 or 31

I can appreciate that many want to see the car in person and I have no problem with participating with some local organized events within the community as I can, schedule permitting. I work in Mississauga and will be driving this to work regularly. If anyone wants to come and see the "baby" you are more than welcome. I can certainly take a few minutes to show it to you. So any local members here want to make a trek out to have a look, feel free. Sadly, I will not be in a position to do a cross country tour again. I did this two years ago and it was amazing. This is a beautiful country from coast to coast and I have had the good fortune to see much of it with my business travel. We are all truly blessed.

Thank you Murray,
It was the least I could do for all of your effort to share information to us all here in our wait for our cars. The long wait is well rewarded with the car you are getting. I just cannot say enough about this. Early days yet, so some glitches may come up but for now, no frunk issues, no blown motor, or tranny, so fingers crossed!

I'm in Brantford, and our local dealer has delivered 5 already.
I've only seen one of them so far, a Torch red beauty, same as Murrays' soon to be built colour.
I haven't seen any vins above 6200, has anyone seen a higher number yet?

Yes, a 6300 vin on MECF.
