Ron Fellows 2 Day Program now open to Canadian C7 Owners

My only concern is for your wife. There is not and I repeat not a whole lot to do in Pahrump. Every time bad stuff happens on CSI Vegas it happens in Pahrump.

Hope you enjoy your learning experience at this beautiful facility. Lot of pictures must be taken.

Hehe. Hmmm, I wondered why Pahrump sounded so familiar [wry smile]. My wife is going to man the SLR and the video cameras. Not sure what vantage points she will be allowed to shoot from. Oh I am sure my VISA card will take a few hits to compensate for those hours I am in the car and she is available to head back to Vegas and shop [shudder].

I don't want to get this thread off track but if you have some time to do some exploring look up China Ranch Date Farm. Although it seemed to take forever to get there it really was not that far from Pahrump and it is on the way back to Vegas. Just a fascinating place in some of the most incredible landscape I have ever seen. Death Valley is a day trip and it is simply beautiful.

I don't think you would be disappointed to make the side trip(s).

There is a casino in Pahrump that has a reasonably good buffet in a very tacky spot. I don't think it is far from the track as I recall. There is also a really nice restaurant at a winery not far from the track either, high end place but the food was wonderful. I will get the name of for you.

By the name I thought it may be a competitor to the Chicken Ranch, but it actually is a Date Grove! :D

So it is safe to take the wife there. I keep waiting on the wife to say when she can get off work so we can book our trip to Spring Mountain.

I am sort or kidding about Pahrump, it think it is pretty safe there. A very depressed area however. I think it is famous for having the largest aquifer in Nevada.

It struck me that Spring Mountain was a pretty secure facility, you had to check in and out. The condo complex looked really nice. Nice spot for certain.

Never thought about the Chicken Ranch!! LOL.

Watch your a$$ in Parhump, I am sure police officers would give a ticket to their mother. After you drive a vette over100mph all day, it is very easy to go over speed limit in the city. The guy was right behind the speed sign (just like in the movies) and he got me as I was decelerating, not a single chance to get away whit any kind of explanation. The trainers at Spring Mountain will tell you and they are right. If you go whit your wife, let her drive.

Btw, it was one of the funniest thing I did in my life, not the ticket, the experience at Spring Mountain

I tried to sell that to my wife. No such luck, tried to find a way to get a second discounted student, no luck there either. Only way would be to find someone who bought their car with a business as the owner and they were not going and would authorize the person as the operator to spring mountain.

I'm just stuck with paying full for the wife. Hoping for some brownie points

I don't know if it still the same but I went during summer (June) and it's their low season so they where offering free condo. I had a free additional night as my flight was the day after the 3rd day of driving lesson. The flight was cheaper, the car rental was cheaper and one extra night. Not bad even if I had to give part of the saving to pay for the speed ticket:rofl:

Thanks for all the tips folks. We plan to stay around Laughlin area the 2 days prior. We will probably go over to Hoover Dam for a day. No plans to go into Vegas proper. May do Red Rock.

Perhaps I will downsize my rental ride to a Prius for scootin' to the buffets. :D

Will you're in Vegas, go see Fremont street at night, it's in the old town . Google it, you will see amazing stuff

Before going to Pahrump, ask which circuit will be used.

The Spring Mountain course has at least two different configurations. All are very safe (impossible to hurt yourself, but you could get sagebrush scratches on the paint and cactus spines in the tires if you leave the circuit in a big way). Only the long course is not Mickey Mouse, and it is very good - elevation changes, different speed corners. The 2002 Open Track Challenge began at Pahrump (seen different circuits in seven days, 63 entries from the USA, Canada and Britain). Our Porsche 914 mit turbomotor (I didn't own the car, just drove it) was not even classified in the first group (Ferrari F40s, Comptech supercharged Acura NSXs, Viper compCoupes, etc.) and we were unknowns from Canada... but we won first overall.

Yes! The overhead light show is amazing. My wife and I were in Vegas in May 2013. Freemont Street at night is a must see. We even got to see at night by helicopter :)

Hehe. Way cool.

I have asked for an automatic since it has been a while since I have driven a stick aggressively and my C7 is an A8. I am used to 4 on the floor but shifting from 2nd to 3rd could be from 2nd to 5th with a 7 speed with my luck. So, iffin' I must drive stick at SM I am sure I will be a wimpy driver until I am back in the saddle again.

Been too many years in SUVs I suppose.

Finally booked!
Wife and I are attending May 19-20, so heading to Vegas for May 24 weekend.

Got 10% off for the wife's course which was nice bonus.

Mike, if you need someone to car-sit your ZEEVETTE or take her for a daily ride please let me know. Ill look after her for you for the week. ;-)

Have a great trip and congrats on signing up!

Just completed the 3 day Ron Fellows Corvette school and I can say without any reservation every C7 owner (and those wishing to own a C7) should attend this course. You will come to fully appreciate the amazing capability of the C7 and test the limits of your capabilities. The instructors of this school are consummate professionals and will take you from novice to a solid intermediate track driver. If you have any aspirations of tracking your Stingray or would like to fully appreciate the capabilities of this car, then be assured that investing in yourself will bring more fun and satisfaction to your C7 experience than any mechanical performance accessory. I'll leave it at that....this was truly a bucket list experience. Bravo, Ron Fellows and Spring Mtn.

Sounds like a great experience, but if for any reason you are unable to make it to Nevada, are there any alternatives here at home (Ontario)? Any recommendations

RJH-C7 Sounds like you had a blast. Question did you have driving shoes or did you buy the Stan Smith court shoes as they stated in the enrolment letter.

If you bought Stan Smith's which ones did you buy???
