This is kind of car related as I need to source a roll up garage door for my barn. There are lots of options, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them. I can't use a regular garage door because of the way barns are built and because of the way I had to cut out the loft in mine to facilitate my hoist.

I'm sure you could see this coming  ,lol.

Yes, several Canadian manufacturers produce residential roll-up garage doors, often focusing on durable, space-saving designs suited to harsh winters and security needs. Key Canadian Manufacturers RUF Roll Up Doors, based in Southern Ontario, specializes in residential roll-up garage doors like the RUF55 (standard strength) and RUF77 (heavy-duty), with options for remote control, custom colors, and compact installation.
Steel-Craft, manufacturing since 1963, offers customizable steel overhead doors with ClimaCore insulation for residential use, built entirely from Canadian steel to handle extreme weather.
Upwardor in Milton, Ontario, provides residential garage doors with a focus on quality and local production, serving homeowners for over 50 years. Regional OptionsIn British Columbia, Smart Garage produces custom steel sheet roll-up doors for garages and sheds, emphasizing curb appeal and local installation.
Candoor offers insulated and non-insulated rolling steel doors with chain or motor operation, available across Canada for residential applications.
Rolltite by Richards-Wilcox Canada makes aluminum and steel rolling doors suitable for homes, with minimal maintenance.

Yup! LOL!
Ya, I found several local companies. I'll get quotes, but before I do I'd like to get any first hand knowledge from the group if there is any that is. They seem to be a lot more expensive than a normal garage door.

That they are but maybe not as dear as you might think. Do you have conventional " barn " doors on there now ? If you don't heat your barn I would think the non insulated ones would cost less and they make both apparently.

The original doors were double swing open, but not wide enough to get a car in so I cut the opening to 9 feet and made my own doors 4.5 feet wide each. Problem is I redid the interlocking bricks in front of the barn because they had sunk, but I raised them too high so in the winter when the ground freezes and heaves, the doors don't open. I just cut one of them down so they open, but roll up doors or even garage doors wouldn't be affected by that and would seal better.

These are the original doors.

This is how I braced the barn roof so I could cut out the loft floor above the hoist. I had to leave some floor at the front (I cut out inside the black lines) and the rear of the barn hence why I can't use a regular garage door.

My neighbor installed a hoist in his garage and modified the door rails to allow the door to roll up over top of any vehicle on the hoist. His garage door is just a standard 9 foot wide. Get some quotes from qualified installers. You might find its not too difficult.

Ya, after I posted I began to re-engineer (in my mind) the front of the barn to allow for that. That would likely be the best and more inexpensive option. They have side mounted garage door openers that would be good for that as well. I'll look into that option. I was also thinking, that for now, I could wedge the hinges so the doors open on more of an upper angle so the bottom would swing higher as it opens.
Just posting things sometimes get the juices flowing in a positive direction. LOL
